Taxes?

Well this is an incredibly boring post, but I feel like I need to do it since I don't know what it REALLY means for those of you outside the US. The good news is I have a reward for you at the end.

Basically Patreon is updating and changing some things based on new laws passing in several countries and the US. It looks like they will be charging a sales tax on some pledges starting July 1.

Less than half of all patrons will be charged sales tax, and for most, the amount will be very small. For example, sales tax rates in the US range from 4% to 11%, so on a $5 pledge, that would be between 20 cents and 55 cents.

I don't know if this means you'll pay 5 bucks and it'll take 20 cents for example, or it'll charge you $5.20. I don't really know.

Whether or not you will be charged sales tax depends on your location, and what is considered taxable there. Not every pledge is taxable, not all benefits are taxable in every location, and sometimes only a fraction of a pledge will be taxable. The money that Patreon collects as a result of these laws are paid directly to local governments.

I'm sure we'll all find out in a couple of days.  But in the mean time, GOOD NEWS TIME...

Finally the printing shops are opening and the Space Buttefly shirt is on it's way to you all!

Also, more insanely - I'm in Cyberpunk 2077.

Yep. Here's a screen shot. And no, I'm not wearing pants. It's part of my quest :P

This has been brought up on other people I support, and it hasn't changed for me. 25% VAT on top of the pledges here in Sweden.

Wryglorgnax

All good! I’ll support you either way. Gotta make it through these days together.

In My case the Taxes are added on Top so you get the pledged ammount and im Paying the Taxes on top. But for me it was like this from the beginning.

Yeah we already pay VAT in EU, which is billed on top of the pledge. So I' d assume it's just now getting rolled out everywhere. We'll see though, maybe you're going to get taxed twice?

Rafi

That’s awesome. It would be even better if you end up wearing crensloth sweatpants.

Ezmer2Dragon

UK pays VAT already (our sales tax) so i would guess we shouldnt be hit again

Stuart O'Hara

I am from Denmark, and we have had taxes on patreon always, it adds to the charge, so in my case it is 1$ + 0.25 cents (25% tax) totalling 1.25$

Truly the most powerful quest. The detail that you're covering your junk, implies you're not wearing anything downstairs...

The Ferret

Muhahaha, pitiful americans with their 4-11% taxes. We in glorious Bojlerland pay 27%! You can't even come close! Also in my case Patreon adds the amount to my total so i'm paying it up.

That's amazing you just made my day! Do we need to drop shirt sizes? Medium just in case πŸ˜…

RogueSminja

Are you wearing MeUndies though?

I guess that confirms which "body part" this quest is about then! Also just FYI I think the sales tax thing already happened for patrons in the UK some time ago.

Makes me want to play
