Major Updates to the Patreon!

Hey gang!

With the office back open and everyone able to work together again we decided that we really want to focus more on Patreon and giving you all some more bang for your buck in terms of timeliness and content. So we wanted to update you with some of the stuff that's currently in the works here!

1. A new assistant helping to run the Patreon page

Hi, that's me! I'm Criss. I'll be the one making posts about rewards shipping out, tax information updates, mailing you stuff, answering technical questions, etc.  Not to worry though, Kristen is still here! I'm looking at her right now, sneakily, from over the monitors. As you may know, she and Jesse are getting really busy with secret Sixty40 Studios game development work but they didn't want the Patreon to stop being a priority which is why I'm here ^^!

2. Phasing out the $1 tier and making a $3 tier

We're going full-throttle with new content production! New videos, behind the scenes, vlogs and surprise content! With new staff and office and a new level of commitment, we are extra devoted to bringing this Patreon to a whole new level. In order to do this however, we're going to be phasing out our $1 tier and creating a $3 tier to take its place.

As it stands with a $1 tier nearly all of it ends up going to Patreon the company and not to the content creator, with this change we're making sure your money is going to supporting Jesse's work. We understand if the bump up in price makes this not worth it for your patronage, but we promise that the extra 2 bucks will be worth every penny! We'll give everyone a heads up before we actually implement this change.

3. Switching to a pay up-front model for memberships

You're probably familiar with this if you're following other Patreon pages. We'll make a more in-depth post about this change soon but the main thing to know is that memberships will be charged at the beginning of the month for that current month instead of at the beginning of the month for previous month. So a charge on August 1st would be for your August membership instead of your July membership. This will hopefully let us get rewards out to you all faster and give us more time to make more Patreon exclusive content.

4. A monthly newsletter

Some of the feedback we've gotten from you guys is that it's not super clear what's in the works in terms of Patreon and channel content. With that in mind we wanted to make it easy for members to see what's going to be coming up on all platforms, so we're trying out a digital newsletter. It will be a cursory run down of projects being worked on, where to find more content and what events are happening.

Dan Tan's doing the art for it so it'll be both informative and gosh dang adorable to look at! If there's anything you'd like to see regular information on in the monthly update let us know!

5. More content!

The most important thing we want to do is create more Patreon exclusive content for you guys. Content like more behind the scenes videos, office vlogs, colab gaming, blog posts, etc. If there's anything in particular you would like to see on here, feel free to leave a comment or send a message ^^.

We hope to start implementing all this soon, in the meantime it's business as usual! Thanks for reading and thank you as always for your amazing support.

- Criss (deputy assistant!)

Major Updates to the Patreon!

Comments

Hi Criss! All great ideas, especially looking forward to the newsletter and all of the new content! Also never realised that the subscription was on a post-paid basis, good to know that it's changing to a more sensible model now.

Thank you, I'll keep an intro video in mind! - Criss

Totally agree

Welcome Criss! In the newsletter (or somewhere else), it would be nice to know what Jesse has streamed recently that hasn't been put up on YouTube (with links would be amazing). I can rarely watch streams live and don't really like Twitch's VOD system, so I tend to forget to check Twitch to see if there's anything I'd be interested in watching after the streams are over. I love all the scripted stuff Jesse's been doing on YouTube recently but I also really miss more regular gameplay stuff since that has pretty much moved to Twitch.

Welcome Criss! Good luck! Looking forward to your posting of stuff from the great butterfly himself, and who knows, why not of yourself as a first introduction video πŸ˜…

Thank you ^^! - Criss

Good luck Criss

I've seen other people drop the $1 tier. I always like the $1 as I like to stick to only 5 patron peeps. So its $5 a month for me. I'm wondering how patron takes the majority of the money. I've not heard this clearly before, and I've Never seen how the backend works. Honestly just I like to drop the $1 a month to folk I like and forget about Patreon. On the occasion I'll take part in the fan Friday poll if there's a game that I really want. I never really interact with social media and the likes anyway. I would appreciate if you could elaborate on the usefulness (or lack there is) of the $1 tier :p Thank you very much! Jesse Cox is one of my favourites genuinely, and I really hope that 'The Green Cheetah' waving at you from across the way doesn't come for you! :D

The Bootleggers series you had on here before was great, any chance of something like that again? Esp. with Kristen.

Ahh hi! xD - Criss

Agreed, very important! It's going on the list.

Hi Criss!

TK

I love the idea of casual little behind the scenes videos and office vlogs!

I would like a tour of what's in the fridge, or in the kitchen as a whole. I feel this is an important bit of information.
