Weekly Status Report

Good afternoon,

the week is again almost over, so time to give you a review on the things I managed to get done.

First of all: I'm sorry that the update wasn't released this week as I intended to do. I did what I could to get there over the past days but with every passing day it became less likely and with it the pressure I felt became higher.

I started the week with working on some additional animations for the lake scene (mostly for transitions). Then I also worked on some more images for the Dave & Penny scene to make the steps more comprehensible. For that I also have thought of a replay feature that you can watch if you miss some of the developement between them (I had to think about that a lot, first I wanted to make things only trigger if the player is actually there, then I decided that it would be more realistic if things happen even if he isn't, but in that case I didn't want you to actually miss all the scenes that I have written... so this was the best solution).

After that I continued working on the main story and decided to expand it a little for the upcoming update. Originally I had planned to leave some things out for now but after playing it all through in my mind I came to the conclusion that it would now fit in much better than at a later time. This of course also took some more time and I had to add some more images as well.
Last but not least I added the recruitment mercenary for the camp so that replenishing mercs becomes easier (he will show up after at least one merc died) - I plan to add more automation for this whole process in the future as I don't want it to be a tedious thing the player has to keep track of. Similar to how healing tinctures take care of wounded in Rumah.

What's now still open to do is the actual implementation of the lake scene as well as a lot of testing of the mechanics I've added. I wish I could somehow get this done today but even if I'd work until midnight it's unlikely. So as much as I hate it, I have to delay the update by at least one more day.
I probably could have made it today if it hadn't been for the week I was sick, but there's no point complaining about spilt milk.

Instead, I will continue to go full speed ahead and complete the update as quickly as possible.
I hope you can forgive me the delay and I wish you all a nice weekend!

ya so next time just don't be an ass with your comments. even this one was back handed. everyone being pissed at you is completely valid when you cant even write a proper nice comment. suggestion next time you comment don't just think "me, me, me". makes you miss the mark hard

Kevin Daley

the pitfall of growth. hes also injured/sick right now so if anything he shouldn't even be working. yet we all know chyos. telling him to not work is like telling a bear to not eat honey. impossible.

You are doing amazing buddy, we are pretty sure that when the update finally comes is going to be fantastic!

Where did these new bumass new fans come from? Acting as if Chyos hasn't been a consistent and high quality creator for over 6 years (I know because I've been here since the beginning) Shut up you can wait another week. As updates become more complex to fit the overarching plot you need to accept the reality that things will take longer.

Sonjohn Nickles

You do an outstanding job, Chyos! Let the updates be like a holiday dinner, better we smell it cooking for a while so it's even tastier when served!

Thunderkiss

I know we have some impatient fans of the game, but please, let the man get the upcoming content up to his standards. As someone who's been here a while, Chyos has improved the game in every way. That takes more time compared, to when he could release new content every week. Above all, he's proven reliable and has excellent communication skills, unlike many developers who have disappeared without a word. Then come back with excuses only to see the project get abandoned. A word of advice in this day and age of funding projects on platforms. When you find a project that you want to fully support by a responsible dedicated developer, who frequently updates you on the progress. Instead of leaving you scratching your head asking yourself, 'Where the hell is this person, and why haven't we heard anything?', count yourself lucky. Wrapping this up... fewer and fewer people are willing to support these projects. They've been burnt a few times which causes the erosion of trust from would-be supporters. Developers start with good intentions but, lack the discipline to see it through to completion. Most want to give up and move on to a new project because they didn't get the results they had hoped for. I find that very immature and unprofessional IMO. Let us be kinder and understanding. Ask questions tactfully that are well thought out over suggesting something is amiss. I'm just saying. (And sorry for the long rant)

I respect your voice of concern about delayed releases. You can be sure it is also always in the back of my mind even if nobody speaks it out loud. However I won't be working over the weekend. The update will come next week as soon as it meets my expectations (hopefully by monday night) and has no gamebreaking bugs in it. There is no point in pushing something out early if it is a broken mess just so I can say: "there it is".

Chyos

Leave it alone my friend, I love this game, I just wanted to give you a weather alert to encourage you, I hope you can update it by tomorrow and one more thing, I'm talking to you, not the community, I hope you respect my point of view

Play another game while you wait like the rest of us normal people do.

Robert M Kern

I've just checked on that and wrote you a pm

Chyos

You are wrong about the payment... I paid for the month of July and when August came Patreon charged me, I didn't make the payment because you said you wouldn't charge and they blocked me.

jose alberto torres de santana

let the man have some well deserved rest. everyone needs a vacations from time to time.

JoJo

I do think about that a lot. Although you have to be fair, I was on vacation last month so that doesn't count (nobody had to pay for that). If the current update wouldn't have so many mechanics that interact with each other I could have released a smaller update earlier this month, but I didn't want to release a version where Penny would have to pay taxes without being able to actually make the needed money. Or a version where she would have to pay taxes but the event where that happened is completely missing.

Chyos

rather he take his time than rushing through and making a mess

Sprite

2 months without anything....think about it
