Full Steam Ahead!

Hello everyone! As you've probably seen already: BARQ 2.0 just released! After almost a year of development we can finally say goodbye to the old app and welcome our brand new and much improved version of BARQ.

Now that we've reached this milestone we can now finally focus on adding new and exciting features to BARQ again! This is a process we want to do together with all of you, our supporters. I will give a quick summary of what we are planning to do:

Milestone roadmap

There will be a public roadmap on the website that outlines the broad ideas that we have and the dates we would like to have them released. This roadmap will help us define the future of BARQ and keep everyone in the loop and hyped.

Feature catalog

Next to the roadmap there will also be a feature catalog. This catalog will contain upcoming features we plan to develop somewhat in the near future. These features will be worked out in detail and then also placed on the roadmap.

Our goal is to involve the supporters into this process. So the BARQ team will begin working out the features and then validate with the supporters if we're going to right direction. Depending on the size and relevancy of a feature we might also plan sessions on Discord where we can refine the features in-depth with you all :)

Early access / beta testing

Previously the idea was that supporters would have early access to builds. Then after about a month the rest of the users would get the update on their phones. This caused many issues in situations where we would also want to submit bug fixes or small changes to the app for all users, since we would then have multiple versions of the app running in parallel.

From now on, new features or changes eligible for early access will be available behind so called feature flags. This means everyone has access to the same builds of BARQ but some functionality will only be available to supporters until we release it to the rest of the users. This should make development much easier while also providing you with more value. A win-win 🎉
