Question

As many of you know, I've been looking to buy some land. While I don't think going the funding"/gofundme route is appropriate, I don't think it's a bad idea to ask my community to help. With that said, I've been trying to figure out the most tasteful way to ask for help with achieving this goal without coming across as "begging" to my community. I've considered inserting a pre-recorded clip before all of my YouTube uploads to briefly mention the Patreon. Outside of that, I'm not sure if there's a decent way to promote the goal. Any ideas?

I hope you're all having a great week <3

I think encouraging tips on ASMR videos would be cool, and you could promise an ASMR tour of the land if your followers help you buy it!

Maggie Q

I love that idea of adding more to Spotify!!

Andrea Rose

I volunteer to rip the audio of every single YT video. No joke. Bailey, if you're reading this, hmu. Seriously, I love doing stuff like that. There are only six audios on your Spotify. Who knows, maybe uploading more would bring you more YT subs.

VerafiedTrashPanda

Also a thought… people love a podcast. Recently, I was trying to find an ASMR podcast and there’s very little to choose from. If you uploaded the audios of your already recorded youtube vids, I bet it’d be super popular. (I have no idea if podcasts are profitable so disregard if not.)

Sarah Murphy

I paid the taxes and customs fees on that thing and was thinking it's probably more than what you made... Been wearing it to the office a few times lol

Saila

Oh nice! I hope you love the hoodie :D

Bailey Scott

I pretty much agree with what everyone has said. I don't really have much to add to this, but on another note, I did manage to get you a few more youtube subscribers recently because I've had people ask me about my Cap nap hoodie and I showed them one of your videos.

Temple_0f_Time

True about the exchange rate too - it’s a killer for some of us.

Irene Crichton

Hahaha! $200 is twice what I pay in a month for food LOL. If you want to start that GoFundMe and just link it under your videos, we could donate every time we have the funds to do so. Do you have any land in mind that you want to purchase or do you still need to find it? Knowing exactly how much you would need makes setting a goal a lot easier :)

Jacqui

Lol, can you add a tip jar to Patreon?? 🪙

Andrea Rose

yep! $200 is a lot unless you live in the United States where $200 is a good night out. looool. It's rediculous how much it costs to live here. Anyway, I realize most won't sign up for that tier but I wanted to offer it anway. I figure out of 296,000 people, 50 (there are only 50 spots available for that tier) may be interested in that. I'm usually wrong though LOL

Bailey Scott

Yeah okay, makes sense.

VerafiedTrashPanda

Understandable. Promoting your Patreon at the start and end of all your videos is definitely a good idea. I noticed that you added a $200 tier to your Patreon, people like myself from other countries (I'm from South Africa) would not be able to afford that. For me that $200 tier is over three grand. So if you want to add higher tiers to perhaps add more income to this page, that may be a good idea. Something that encourages engagement with your following in the higher tiers. This is just a thought. We only want to see you succeed <3

Jacqui

One thing I've had a REALLY hard time with in the past is scheduling. As a creative, it's not my strongsuit. I can do it but it requires more structure around the art which is hard because I usually film when it feels right. I.E I get really bummed out when there's due dates on things... If there would've been more than about 25 people signed up, I'd have grinded through it... but... we didn't haha

Bailey Scott

Would early access videos count as unlisted videos? I liked the early access perk, ngl. lol

VerafiedTrashPanda

Ah I see, that’s bummer you don’t get much from merch, but we appreciate it anyway💕 Excited for the new tier stuff!

emilygrace

Streaming isn't proffitable in the slightest unless I do ASMR streams (which I don't want to do). I think I'll just promote my Patreon in front of all my videos moving forward. It can only help.

Bailey Scott

The merch is more for you guys. I make VERY little on the merch stuff. I just added a chunky boy patreon tier for anyone interested. I realize it's out of most price range but it's there :)

Bailey Scott

I still have YT memberships but it's just a badge. I don't like the idea of having YouTube unlisted videos on my page because it starts to crowd my analytics page and I have a hard time figuring out wtf is going on haha

Bailey Scott

LOL, love the Instagram post - that’ll do it too!

Irene Crichton

Heck, 10 cents from each sub and I could get the land. All I really need is the 20% down :D

Bailey Scott

I feel like your following will have no issue donating to your cause. If every person gives between $1 and $20, you should have met your goal in no time. You could alternatively stream more often and set a donation goal on your stream. Doing personalized videos could work, but once the excitement around that wears off, the money made from it will also slow down. Advertising your Patreon and adding higher tiers with added benefits for each tier may be an easier way to make the money you need.

Jacqui

Mmm I’d have to agree with a lot that has been said already. I would say mentioning Patreon in each YT video definitely doesn’t hurt, but like Vera said, revival of the YT membership would maybe helpful as well. And like with custom videos, if you don’t wanna do a tier for that, you can just offer/advertise that you do them. Lastly, I know you did a small fall merch launch plus your previous merch, but maybe perhaps like in the new year, do another merch launch with more options/designs, diversify the merch, maybe ask followers what they’d like to see in new merch etc. Good luck!

emilygrace

These are some good suggestions! Custom vids, additional Patreon tiers, a promotional Patreon clip or text at the start of YT videos, re-engaging the YT membership, and special merch drops or products (I realize the profit margin on merch varies wildly though, so the practicality of that is super dependent on numerous factors).

s5g

You could also revive that YT membership thing btw.

VerafiedTrashPanda

Just ask. Imagine $1 from each YT sub? You certainly deserve that. 💰😳

Peter Courtien

I like the idea of a pre recorded clip before your YT videos. It's promoting your work and it's business savvy without coming across as begging. Other than that, just post a massive billboard of yourself advertising your Patreon 😄 🤣

hevco

sorry, hit send 😵‍💫….. and if I were rich I’d buy you that passel of land. But lots of great artists thru the years had patrons, so it’s not “begging”. I agree with ItsMoe.

Irene Crichton

Wish I had the kind of brain to help with a plan for you but if I did, then I’d be rich! And I’d but

Irene Crichton

Hmm, I'm stuck on that same thought as well, with you not knowing how to go about this goal, dream and achievement in the best way. The idea of putting the short clips at the start of your videos to "promote" your Patreon is the most decent or appropriate way of going about it without making it look like begging..

ItsMoe..
