They actually referenced a lot of Bruce Lee choreography for the fight scenes! Spike practices jeet kune do, a special technique developed by Bruce Lee. The style — whose Cantonese name translates to "The Way of the Intercepting Fist" — combines aspects of boxing, fencing, and obviously kung fu.

Not saying react to it, but then again it could do well in a poll, it's another classic of the 90s but it's a space western as well, though it does lean into the western part more. Or Outlaw Star, like Cowboy Bebop it's more on the space side of being a space western.
