Yes, in Japan people do bath together more so in public baths, but when you are kids and the same gender, there are times where you may bath together which is not that awkward; also it is kind of a "girls cliché" thing for a stay over. It is usually for more pre-teen kids, but because Steins; Gate is very hard centered in "Otaku" and "Moe" culture of Japan, it has inserted what is also a cliché in "girl's games" (those that Daru loves so much) where the protagonist (player) accidentally and invitingly peeks girls nude moment (and usually gets punched or yelled/scolded).
