What Satoru was saying is, in my understanding, among the suspects, if the murderer chose Hiromi thinking he was a girl, then it will suggest that the murderer was somebody that didn't know him too much and those that knew he was a boy will be ruled out (and the motivation would also be pointing more to choosing the victums by "likings" ... oh now, Yuki seems to have that kind of tendency... oh and he certainly was able to put a glance on the children if he was around them more, etc.) Also, a name Hiromi is unisex but was used more for females back in the 80s.
