Historically, they have said that Vikings did in fact carry their huge ass ships to get it into the water and other situations to move it. Vikings were a different breed way back in the day!

2022-03-15 20:55:31 +0000 UTCAbout the Caribbean pirate age "Letter of marque" was a letter that let the private ship act as pirate vs certain others at war, for example England hired people as privateers against France when they where at war, so they can raid only French ships as much as they can, but they where of course free pirates riding everyone. About Vikings, they had their own raids from each village/city but they also had Kingdoms at the same time fighting in Europe and conscripting those Vikings in their armies when the time came, its quite complicated but yea, some acted as mercenaries other just raided once a year for example and other served the kingdom sometimes all at once.
