A few things to clarify after watching this episode. Frederica is 1/4 beast and Garfiel is 3/4 beast, so neither of them are restricted by the barrier. Also, I don't know if you caught the terms of Subaru's bet with Roswaal. He is not allowed to use Return by Death, it was a binding oath that Roswaal made, so if Subaru dies and uses Return by Death, he has to give in to what Roswaal wants. So he has no 2nd chances and has to get this right in one try. Also another thing to clarify, while Roswaal knows that Subaru has some kind of time reset ability, he does not know that it is activated by death.
