Askeladd and his tough love. xD He's indeed a complex character. Like Bjorn said, Askeladd's self hatred runs as deep as his hatred for vikings. He's great at it, and he's only known how to live as one, to be ruthless and cunning. At the same time though, he admires people like Thors even if he scoffs at them being idealistic. So while he really hurt Thorfinn with that comment, it's almost as if he's drawing a line here in clear terms, "You and I are different." These characters are so well-written I can't help but go on and on about them xD

2022-04-29 12:19:19 +0000 UTCCan't tell if you noticed, but Askeladd even added at the end of his story that when the hero/god/end times come he's sure that he too would be seen as a savage. Really hits how he sacrificed all he was for revenge and started to live as a viking.
