I think the original text at the beginning explains Jojo's Bizarre adventure follows the history of the Jostar family, throughout the ages. At least that is what i can gleam from having read the first manga take from that what you will...

Here's a few things that you might want to know watching this: - You should probably not look at the visuals of the opening until episode 4. It spoils plot points of episodes 1-3. It's not that big of an issue if you do end up watching it though, since it's just the first three episodes. All the other openings and endings of this show do not have this problem btw. - Talking is a free action in anime but Jojo takes it to the next level. There might be times where you wonder why X person is not acting (like when the butler was burning stuff), but that's probably because someone is talking :D - The manga of Part 1 (ep 1-9) came out in 1987. While the animation is newer (ep1 came out in 2012), the manga it adapts is quite old. As you progress through the series you'll notice that the writing gets better and more modern. There's currently 8 parts of Jojo's, with a 9th coming out this year. Here's a list of the release dates of these parts: Part 1: manga 1987 / anime 2012 Part 2: manga 1987 / anime 2012 Part 3: manga 1989 / anime 2014 Part 4: manga 1992 / anime 2016 Part 5: manga 1995 / anime 2018 Part 6: manga 1999 / anime 2021 (currently airing) Part 7: manga 2004 Part 8: manga 2011 Part 9: coming this year Looking forward to see your opinions on it!
