I too really wanted Netero to sit down and talk with the King when I watched it for the first time.
But thinking about it it really wouldn't make that much sense for him to do so:
As Netero said, the King could flip either side. And even if Netero gets him to flip the right side it still seems like a stretch (at the very least it would to Netero) that he could convince him to not just kill most of the humans to get the "peacful" world the King now seems to want.
And if he doesn't suceed he might have given up his one and only - even remotely realistic - shot at beating the King (because he knows that the King is basically learning and getting stronger every day he lifes and because he also knows that it would probably be impossible to get him ever again into a situation where he's separated from his Royal Guard).
This means that talking could turn out great but it could just as easily be him throwing away humanitys last chance. So if Netero wants to protect the human race as a whole, the savest move really is to insist on this fight.🤔
I think this kind of moral dilemma's is waht makes HxH so interesting and unique.

The king isn't replicating Netero's nen techniques, he's merely copying Netero's physical movements. He's able to learn what Netero spent years doing to move that fast and strike after only been struck by it once. He may not have perfected it after a single strike but when he got hit hit the second time, he could physically fight in a no nen area as an equal with Netero.

I fully understand the impatience for the "juicy" parts since there is many side stories going on, little spoiler maybe not next week but 125/126 are one of the best episodes in the whole series.
