that soul binding tidbit is from the web novel version of the scene, not the light novel the anime adapts. the LN changed what is disclosed during that conversation and will be revealed later on, so imo your comment is a bit of a spoiler for the LN and anime order of events.

2022-09-22 05:07:09 +0000 UTCJust a tidbit from the lightnovel, the bet that Subaru makes with Roswaal is binded to his soul, so basically if Subaru doesnt save the mansion and the sanctuary in this life, he has to take Echidna's contract, and if he does then Roswaal joins them. Also Echidna's contract is similar to What if : Greed story where Echidna will get him what he wants, but sacrifice whatever she has to, and die as many times as she wants to gain knowledge.
