I think incest jokes keep coming back because its hard to push the envelope when theyve done so much crazy shit already. Its a subject where humans have a built in "ick" response so its a useful tool for the writers. Especially when it comes to coming up with new ways to torture jerry. In this case being fated to do something unpleasant and trying to avoid it. Jerry has already suffered things worse than death, they had to come up something worse than that lol.
