Bleach Season 1 Episode 1 Full Length Reaction

Edit* We have re-uploaded the video and included a clip of the show after the intro.  The Hulu version does not have the "bear" screen like some other versions.  We will do this going forward so you can hopefully sync better.  In the future we can also cut out the "Viz" title sequence and start right when the show starts if it would be easier for everyone.  Let us know if that would help or if we should leave the "Viz" part in.

We are watching Bleach in Sub on Hulu

Bleach Season 1 Episode 1 Full Length Reaction

Someone probably explained it already since this was two years ago but here goes anyway. Most anime is based on Manga (Japanese comic books). If a Manga becomes really popular they'll make it into an Anime, and they typically make the Anime while the Manga is still being made. Because of the fact that the story can be told much faster in the Anime format, the Anime story like catches up to the Manga very quickly. Filler is a term used for episodes written for the Anime that are NOT in the story line of the Manga, and their purpose is to give the Manga time to get ahead in the story. Otherwise the story of the anime can't follow the story of the Anime. Some anime have tried to just continue the story separately from the anime and the fans......didn't like that. So the studio makes up side stories so that they have something to air while they're waiting on the Manga to write enough new story. The reason most die hard Anime fans don't tend to enjoy filler ESPECIALLY on a first time watch through is #1 there are often small details written into a filler that will directly contradict something that happens later in the actual story which can get confusing if you're new to anime #2 Although anime like Naruto and Bleach do a decent job of blending the filler arcs in with the actual story, the filler isn't cannon and didn't ACTUALLY happen in the story, and #3, SOME anime have interrupting the actual story during very high intensity pivotal sequences and taking you on a 5 episode side story right in the middle of an epic fight just before you know something big is about to happen thus breaking up the rhythm of the story. Every anime usually has dumb little episodes that don't really advance the story much especially between ending one major arc and starting the next, but that doesn't make an episode filler. It's still cannon as long as that happened in the Manga.

great thing about Bleachs fillers (also Narutos fillers) is that you can actually skip them because those are just episodes fully based on like you said pure imagination of anime studio sadly with One Piece it is not possible because they padding canon episodes so lot of times it is just super slow ...

Awesome the Bleach journey starts! & filler is stuff that the anime comes up with when the manga isn’t ready for whatever they have to animate so to make up for lost time the anime jsut makes up a story till the manga is ready with its next chapter. Tho then there’s some filler that has mixed canon parts in it or you’ll have some filler characters become part of the main story out of nowhere

Bleach was never my favorite but still enjoyed it. First rewatch in over a decade.

Yea a lot of people watched Bleach as kids/teenagers and didn't catch up a lot of stuff and then they called that some "things" came out of the blue while they are explained pretty good, or you just need to assume some things.

The anime community considers "filler" episodes to be episodes made for the purpose of buying time, or in other words, filling up space... hence the term "filler." When anime catches up to the manga, instead of stopping the season for a break and waiting for more "official" story content, the anime studio makes new arcs or episodes which are usually not written by the author, so they are usually viewed as irrelevant... with the occasional exception, they're almost always non-canon. These are often (but not always) contradictory to the story content written by the manga author, and a lot of them tend to be of subpar quality, which is why people usually say to skip fillers.

Well, since your watching in sub, do try to pay attention to the dialogue, a lot of exposition related to the power systems happens throughout.

About fillers, its a episode not based on manga, so pure imagination of anime studio sometimes with help with author, but yea for example first long fillers in Bleach are about vampire'ish arc with made up characters etc, reason why there is so much in long series like big trio, Bleach,Naruto, One Piece is because they need to catch up to manga most of the time, manga often is a monthly release while anime is weekly and often consume 2-3+ chapters.

’m excited for this! bleach has a lot of filler cuz it was running the same time the manga was, same w naruto. it caught up with the manga a few times so they resorted to a shit ton of filler

Sub fuck yes, its around 200ep+ without fillers, also the animations will get WAY better later on, and if you guys have time/want to catch up to new arc 4eps/week should take around 10months, i hope you enjoy.
