He was given the gun as a trophy, a reward for beating one of them. The Predators are all about honor. They showed him honor for proving himself as a warrior. Just like the pointy stick given to the lady at the end of AvP (just watched that reaction, too). Speaking of AvP, I've always wondered if she just froze to death shortly after the Predators left.... maybe eaten by penguins.
