I binged this show when I watched it years ago. So I guess I didn't have to deal with the initial slow pacing you did. (Thinking back, maybe I binged it because I couldn't wait for answers). I hope the version you're watching has a line made in the director's cut version. I think it was in episode 23 and it's one of my favorite lines for some reason.

2023-01-11 00:30:32 +0000 UTCFyi, Netflix doesn't subtitle the japanese title screen, but the Netflix name of the episode is the translation of the Japanese title. So, based on the choice of what is subtitled, you are only getting the English title of the episode on the show, which happens midway through an episode.

I'd also say they could cut some things into the first half, but it's also nice having those character interactions. Plus, it's all about the monsters. Nerding out about what they look like. What powers they could have. Does it look cool when they fight, etc.

There is also a whole recap movie Death and Rebirth with really unique style. Both also on Netflix
