What a legendary show. Showing up in your reactions was one of the biggest surprises this year so far. It just so happens it's been a long while since I last watched it, so my body is ready lol. Death Note is really special because it's very uncommon for a story to have me on the fence on who to root for. Light surely is an antagonist in his own right, but he happens to be introduced first, and we're given a chance to get invested in him from the get-go. When I first saw it, I had this weird anxiety to see him come out on top, which made many situations tense (in a good way). Those kinds of mixed loyalties made the show root deep and be super memorable. If this kind of dynamic is your cup of tea, there's an old novel that also does this. It's called "Black Sunday" by Thomas Harris. He wrote it in the early 70s, before he ever dreamed up Hannibal Lecter. Amazing, off-the-beaten-path book. You chose a great series. Buckle in for a wild ride. :D
