The Mikasa/Eren thing I don't see them as brother/sister for all the reasons you stated. They took her in because she had no one and nowhere left to go. It doesn't seem, particularly in this world that they would have been considering each other as brother/sister. So I don't think it's that odd at all and I think the main drive regardless of any romantic feeling is the want to see each other safe which is better than their motivations being strictly hormonal. If I'm correct in the other show you're mentioning. That's a weird one too because the way two characters view each other vs two other characters whether it's brother/sister to the point they may as well be related or not at all would be down to the individual. And I wouldn't say there was exactly a "family unit" structure to that situation either. But the feelings there are likely due to having spent so much time together vs Eren/Mikasa who have a bit more to their relationship than strictly potential romantic chemistry.

Did you not see their update 2 hours before you made this comment? It's also a massive spoiler risk for them to heavily moderate their comments. People just need to be better to each other.

Honestly feels like Dos Cavazos is burying their head in the dirt on this one. If they are uncomfortable with the type of conversations being had over dub/sub in Patreon, can you imagine what will happen when the English dub reactions start being uploaded to YOUTUBE?!? they will end disabling their comment section and like and dislikes lol

Huh

Real talk? I'm super happy to see all the support for the English dub. I'm already pretty used to people dismissing dubs, even ones that I think are knocked-out-of-the-park perfect, like Fruits Basket (old or new), Death Note, and Black Lagoon (Ocean Studios did the dub for those last two, by the by. Just, y'know... if you liked DN and wanted more gold, just saying). But I had kind of assumed the AoT dub was... particularly disliked - and yeah, I see plenty of those people are here, hello! - so it's cool to see people talking it up as much as I do. Personally, I think Ashley Burch, Brynn April, Robert McCollum, and Michael Tatum are particular standouts.

They're free to build their brand and do as they please, but keep in mind they're also motivated by profit not just their personal enjoyment. Any patreon reserves the right to voice their opinion on this unexpected shift (which most have in a civil manner), but imo it's lowbrow to belittle paying supporters for doing so as you have. That's how those with weak arguments operate.

Don't stress the dub /sub war weebs gonna weeb. Just do whats most comfortable to watch and experience this beautiful show.

So many scholars giving their moral views on subs and dubs. Give over and let them watch it, they aren't as passionate about it as all you are. They have listened to all the complaints already, they don't need every ep filled with comments about how a titans roar isn't up to your standards or how a small change in dialect is gonna ruin the entire anime. It doesn't, they are enjoying the show and it's as simple as that

OutlawStar

Sub is OK but but English Dub is a lot better, the voice actor for Eren in English dub should win a award, he is amazing.

JT

I am not against anime dubs, in fact I prefer dub over sub for many series like Death Note, FMAB and so on. But problem with AOT dub is it has complete disadvantage and lack of understanding on the series itself. Set aside translation problems that cause ambiguity in the plot, in Voice acting, the original manga author Isayama Goes to recording room and participate Voice recording, production and telling VAs how lines should be said and underlying meaning behind it even before Manga(https://youtu.be/nIQOTVU2KQo) . While English dub VAs , even the guy who play Eren don't even read the Manga to understand context and simply just read the script. (watch English dub team interview) . I don't want to complain about this either, as no one wants to hear any more complains, but as one of the best written series this poor dub just doesn't do justice to the series.

Matsumoto Erkin

Honestly I think while it isn't a perfect translation, the meaning is captured fine. In subs, "Because I was born into this world." basically conveys he feels he has a right to experience the WHOLE world for himself, not just the confines of the walls, simply because he was born into it. Sure, saying 'birthright' gives it a slightly different feeling, but they certainly didn't "completely changed the meaning" as you claim. This is bias 101. It also doesn't make any future dialogue meaningless.

geeageeE

I usually don't care about sub vs dub but eren saying: "The world beyond the wall is my birthright" makes some future dialogue meaningless. I'm fine with switching up words but here they completely changed the meaning.

Krydda

here we go again.....

Gustavo

ah, hearing that English dub immediately just.....

Matsumoto Erkin

Poor Jean, very unlucky to have his maneuver gear broken at a time like this.
