The funeral scene was actually made after and was targeted at people who had already seen the whole show and to get people to also watch the recap films.

2020-08-29 10:10:21 +0000 UTCREAD IF U WANT. However its not really a spoiler!!!!! Idk y but the anime got rid of a L's funeral scene. It should've been in this ep but it maybe was too overboard or too graphic for viewers to see. But basically Light went to L's funeral, and everyone left the scene expect Light and Ryuk. Then Light basically felt real cocky knowing that he beaten L in the game of mastermind. After that he started talking crazy to L's gravestone and legit stepped, walked, and even laid on his grave, looking and sounding insane. This was animated in the Death Note movie, which is btw a recap of the anime, however it had this L funeral scene in it. Thats really the only difference in the movie compared to the anime.

2020-08-27 05:53:44 +0000 UTCThe story starts in 2007 and the battle between L and Kira went on for about a year (Light was a high school student at the beginning and well into his first year of college by the time of L's death). Kira has now ruled as the god of the new world for 4 years unopposed. As the episode stated, Light is now part of the NPA (national police) which you can infer to mean that he has graduated college and the Kira Task Force is reintegrated into the NPA with him as the leader, as L.
