Personally, I think his voice adds to the half-old-school-yakuza/half-new-age-criminal identity he has, because he sounds like he's barely past college age, yet already so driven. The Japanese seiyuu is great though, especially in combat scenes; even as a dub fan, I'll admit he's a tough act to follow.
