During the escape scene I really noticed how far Ashoka has come. From the little girl in season one to now.

2020-11-11 06:09:11 +0000 UTCThe reason everything already looks so Empire already is because the Republic was basically the Empire in all but name by the time the Clone Wars ended in Revenge of the Sith. The Office of the Chancellor had already amassed so much emergency power from the Senate that Palpatine may as well have already beem Emperor. He just wasn't doing anything overtly evil or opressive. Of course there was also the increased troop presence and impeding of civil liberties but that too was overlooked during wartime, much like that happens in real life during war. There is a great line from a future episode that describes this: "Too late for the Republic to fall? It already has and you just can't see it! No justice! No order! Except for the one that will replace it!"
