A Silent Voice Movie Full Length Reaction

If you like manga, I fully recommend checking out the manga this movie was based on. There's a lot more to the story - it goes into the teacher's neglect and carelessness, the sister's personal motivations, and a lot of other stuff that couldn't fit into the movie.

Rewatching this movie yet again with your reaction, and I picked up a very subtle detail which perfectly represents the character development of the MC. Through the movie, you always see Ishida practicing what he's going to say to Shoko. You could excuse it as him not being confident in his sign language, but at the end of the movie after he wakes up, you see him standing in front of the mirror, practicing what he's going to say to EVERYONE ELSE. Before, he only wanted to open up to her and make her happy. After, he wanted to connect with everyone, to apologize for how he felt he'd wronged them.

yes i feel like Ueno kind of people sucks, but the one i hated the most was definitely Miki Kawai, she's such an hypocrite which isn't something you can spot as quickly as Ueno being a bitch because she speaks her mind. And yeah just the whole playing the victim thing upsets me, it's so manipulative. But it is a great movie! i cried again the whole way through, and it spread good messages, the character writting is also great

Nice reaction to a fantastic film. Yeah the movie was about communication and all the other subjects such as the bullying, anxieties and internal conflicts was used to communicate that message. It did well in showing that these people are flawed, some more than others. Some don't change while others do.. but everyone is capable of it. No one is evil, its more complex than that. It all comes down to their perspective and circumstances. Their inability to communicate their feelings and internal conflicts with others is what drove their actions and conflict among each other. Ishida and Shoko's inability to communicate their true feelings about themselves is what ultimately drove them to continue to blame themselves for the conflicts that arose within their friend group. Ueno (black hair girl) had a crush on Ishida and thats why she went along with the bullying in the first place. But the reason she continued it was because of the fact Shoko changed him and she was jealous and convinced it was her fault. Childish way of thinking but it is understandable. I did like that her one redeeming factor was it doesn't matter if she was being a bitch, she was always the one who spoke her mind. She's blunt and open with how she feels. But ofc completely unsympathetic of how others may or not react. We meet these kinds of people in our lives and that's what makes the characters more than one dimensional good or bad people.
