Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Episode 41 "The Abyss" Full Length Reaction

I love that this episode highlights that mercy isn't going to be the easy route for the elric brothers, but they plan on taking it despite the consequences. Their dedication to mercy is also shown through their determination not to use a philosopher's stone to get their bodies back, and their determination to ensure that they aren't letting people die, even if they are on the opposing side- like the chimera's were.

I love Major Miles, he's so great

Always have to restart FMAB episodes on Netflix, still on Japanese audio from Parasyte lol

I feel like Ed wouldn't use a philosopher stone to save himself even if they spotted it earlier. Ed had made it clear that he wouldn't use people's lives to fix his own mistake. Letting Kimblee get away is a mistake he made, so he'd rather sacrifice his own years than use the stone.

this is one of my favourite episodes, it shows really what makes Ed great: his strong morality and his ingenuity

A comment like this is probably obligatory by now, but the scene where Ed has the metal rod pulled from his abdomen is meant to parallel a woman giving birth. A life was saved, but it required pain and sacrifice, just like when Winry acted as midwife; though, in her case, it was two lives. :)
