2022-02-09 21:19:03 +0000 UTCPride is crumbling because hes running out of "soul juice". What ate up the most of prides life force, was "forcing mustang to do human transmutation". That is the implied risk associated with why they didnt just force people to see the gate so they could be sacrificed. Hommunculus also expend "soul energy" due to repeated "deaths" and regenerations , but in prides case it also takes a lot of energy to manifest his shadows and exist outside his container. Which is why they comment hes not using his shadows so much. Pride is also the oldest out of all of them which def takes some souls.

Everyone knew up to this point the entire country was going to be sacrificed but nobody could expect what happened at the end of this episode. It's a complete mind blown moment and a perfect example of why people love seeing the reactions of others to this.
