Yes, it's a bit tragic, really. I didn't even understand the plot properly until I went back and read the manga and then it suddenly all made sense (missing bits filled in, everything in the right order, and thus much more dramatic build up)! I really hope they don't find the need to carve up any future seasons in the same way. On the other hand, if you haven't read the manga, it works well enough. It's just nowhere near as good.

2021-09-15 01:23:29 +0000 UTCThe anime studio (Bones) rearranged the order of the arcs in S5 and cut out several contents of MVA in order to make the release date of the new semi-canon movie fit right after Endeavor Agency arc, which resulted in messed up story tension and important information missing, let alone the poor animation quality control in MVA under unhealthy schedule. If you want to get the full picture and better appreciation of the story in S5 after the class A vs class B arc, I recommend you to check out the corresponding manga chapters: ch.218 - ch.258.
