I think you guys are familiar (without actually knowing you are) with a short story called "The Most Dangerous Game". It's that story where some dude happens upon on island where he meets a wealthy man who talks about how he became tired of hunting big game animals. He set up camp on an island where there are a lot of shipwrecks and takes in the survivors. He then hunts those people (after giving them food, supplies, and a head start). If you survive a couple of days, you win your freedom. This story inspired countless adaptions or similar takes on hunting people and survival games.
