Lipton did not get out of the army, he was promoted to Officer so the ceremony they had was discharging him a a non-commissioned officer and then he immediately gets re enlisted as a commissioned officer.

2023-04-28 01:46:08 +0000 UTCJust an FYI -- they were all actual people and this all actually happened. All a true story. An author and history professor at Tulane Univ, Stephen Ambrose lived next door to and became friends with Johnny Martin. It all started with Johnny Martin telling him the story which led to him writing several books and Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks doing the series. The old guys in the beginning are the actual men being portrayed in the series. In episode 10 they will unveil who all the old guys were. There is an unofficial Episode 11 which is a documentary where the footage of the interviews with the old guys in the beginning (the Easy Company Men) came from. It is an excellent documentary and goes into more detail and actual footage of the war and the guys. Most reactors also do the documentary -- it is called "We Stand Alone Together". It is available on You Tube and HBO.
