2023-09-06 20:22:11 +0000 UTCyeah I definitely found Arlong Park to be more enjoyable in the anime! I think episode 37 is what made most of us fall in love with OP... In the original material, the villagers also were aware of Nami's deal w/Arlong and sacrifice the whole time, but left her in the dark so she could give up on her plan without being burdened by their expectations. And it wasn't losing the $10mil that led to her mental breakdown โ she was considering to just start over again โ but Genzo telling her she has already done too much for them & the villagers marching to Arlong Park knowing that would be their sure death. The desperation during the whole self mutilation scene just hit a lot more harder (but I understand why they didn't wanna go full graphic). Same with the Arlong Park Walk and its legendary theme โ just chef's kiss. Nonetheless, apart from this, I actually enjoyed East Blue Nami more in the live action (along side Koby & Peaches 'n Cream)!

In the anime/manga this arc is like the defining moment of the start of One Piece. Suuuper hoping you guys check out the anime but ya know, its long. It'll give you guys a LOT of content tho! And open you up to a massive fanbase. Think about it :D

2023-09-06 13:34:37 +0000 UTCHer treasure was stolen, so he gave her his treasure as a promise to get her treasure back (and by putting it on her head, also calling her his treasure by extension). You can also see it as his way of comforting her (kinda reminiscent of how Shanks did) and also him displaying the absolute trust he has in her (despite her 'betrayal' and her being a thief and alladat). But also as him letting her know that she is already a strawhat and it's okay for her to rely on her Nakama.
