Story of Princess Medea:
Jason, a great hero, had his father's kingdom usurped from him by a man named Pelias who promised to return the kingdom to Jason if he stole the Golden Fleece from the Kingdom of Colchis. Jason accepted this deal and set forth on the Argo alongside many other Greek heroes and legends, like Hercules. They are known as the Argonauts. The Goddess Aprodite wanted to help Jason and so controlled the Princess of Colchis', Medea's, mind to force her to fall in love with Jason despite never having met him. Medea then beteayed her father and stole the Fleece for Jason, going so far as killing her brother which made her father so overcome with grief that he could not pursue the Argo with Medea and the Fleece on board. However despite their promise King Pelias refused to give Jason his Kingdom back when he returned with the Golden Fleece, instead he plotted to kill Jason. Medea protected Jason with her Magecraft 3 times, eventually tricking King Pelias into taking his own life by making him believe she will give him immortality. This made Jason King but the other Argonauts were disgusted by Jason and Medea's actions and so chased the two out of the Kingdom, forcing them both to flee to a nearby kingdom of Corinth. The king there liked Jason and so had him marry his daughter, which Jason accepted despite Medea's love for him and all she had done to help him. Medea was again forced into exile, this time by Jason. This truly broke her and so she crashed Jason's wedding, killing everyone there except for Jason himself. What happened to her after that is unknown but was she was recorded in history as a cruel witch and a betrayer.

couple of things:
1. This anime wasn't released in 2022. It was added to Crunchyroll in 2022. It was released in 2014. That being said fate is an ongoing franchise and the most recent entry was released this year.
2. A mistake in the dub is that Caster's original master refers to Lancer's Master as a "he" when speaking to Kirei whereas in the sub he says "she". The sub is correct translation in this instance. Lancer showed up to Caster's Master's workshop because Caster's Master had given a message to Kirei for Lancer's Master giving them permission to "dispose" of Caster. Lancer's Master presumably received this message and sent Lancer to kill Caster.
3. Likewise a mistake in both versions of the episode is Kirei claims that during the flashback there are 5 Masters who already have servants. Because Caster has seemingly yet to summon Assassin this should actually be 4 Masters.
4. Caster's original master is largely original to the anime. Whilst she did have a master before Kuzuki in the visual novel he is described completely differently. The writer of the visual novel considers the anime's version of Caster's original master the "canon" version of him.
5. Caster's magecraft is simply better than Modern Mages because she lived in the Age of Gods where magecraft was much stronger due to there being more "mystery" in the world.
