Because thats a glaring sign of possible story telling mistakes and bunch of other things, especially when multiple stories have been dismissed by your readers

Like sure, doing something else for a while too relax/take your mind off something is good, but that ends when you are juggling multiple stories. It is going to get tedious to keep track of plot points/story progress and how things mesh together.
