Edvin and Omar do a great job in English -hope review of 3rd and last season is in English as well. Hard to follow otherwise - but love the show and will watch in English.

Loved seeing you again and thanks for the reaction, but didn’t love the savage chopping of some really key moments of YR. I get that there are huge copyright issues but isn’t that a really good reason for posting uncut reactions on this Patreon, in which we’d get to see more of you two (we’d love that) as well as not having the frustration of seeing the content so disrupted? I really felt that this episode suffered and so much was missed that was vital to the story and the understanding of the characters and their relationships. You could charge more, donate more to charity and make many of your fans extremely happy at the same time. Someone suggested that another person did the editing and they could still do that for the shorter YouTube version.

I agree that Young Royals arouses some powerful feelings and really makes you think about the dynamics of relationships. I guess I just find it a it worrying that Markus is being defended as a ‘nice guy’ while Simon is being cast in the role of spoilt little victim/user. Must have been watching a different show! 🤔😉

I don’t want to paint with a broad brush, but I wonder if many YT commenters skew to a teenage demo, and maybe they don’t see the behavior for what it is??? I’m def not sure that in my teens, I would’ve recognized the special method of gaslighting Markus uses. I think you raised really valid points! And I love that the show makes viewers think of all of these interesting human situations.

2023-01-27 02:49:34 +0000 UTCYes, they do get very annoyed and mostly seem to come back at me/others who comment about Markus with comments about Simon being equally manipulative. He’s a 16 year old, vulnerable boy, heartbroken by Wilhelm’s betrayal at the end of season 1, from my point of view and Markus is 18, I think, with a dating history from what he says to Simon at one point. I don’t think Simon is blameless at all, but I do think he tries to extricate himself from anything serious with Markus more than once. It’s a complex situation in which they both have some responsibility, but I do still think that Markus is a manipulator and that Simon acts out of vulnerability and grief. Enough said on this point, probably!😬

Apparently, I am being totally unfair on Markus by suggesting he was manipulating Simon and not listening to what Simon was telling him about not being ready for a serious relationship…etc. Ok, that’s fine, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I still think Markus is an arch manipulator but I am not saying that Simon is blameless. 🤐

2023-01-24 12:02:30 +0000 UTCThe only thing I would add about Sara is that her perceptions and the way she interprets situations are affected by her Asperger’s and ADHD, which I think I am right in saying that she tells Felice about-or at least, Felice definitely knows that because she tells August in season 1 episode 2, just after she invites Simon and Sara to the movie night. Not saying she’s right, just thinking that she’s had no experience with guys that we know of and she maybe doesn’t read behavioural cues like most people, so perhaps she takes August too much at face value. But she does know she’s betraying Simon and I don’t defend that at all.

They definitely have different vibes, but I love that too! A little bitter with the sweet, so to speak. I just wish there was an American production that could be half as brave and real as these 2 shows. From the writing to direction to the music choices and of course, acting, YR blows me away every time I watch. I’m thrilled to share my excitement with awesome creators like ASWT and kind fans, like the ones here. Even if it’s rare to find people who share my opinion that Sara is a perfect villainous match for August. 😊

I admire everything about it, especially the tight script and the acting, but what I think really sets it above other shows is the chemistry between Edvin and Omar and the way in which their friendship and trust allows them to make their characters’ relationship so real. It’s something special. Love Heartstopper too, although it’s a very different vibe, don’t you think?
