Real Blackbeard and Stede did sail together for a while. There are some fun videos breaking down what their lives and relationship may actually have been like. In terms of the show, I know Lucius’s actor has talked about the character being proudly poly. And Izzy reads to me like a self-hating gay on a boat of basically all queer people.
