It was mostly off screen but Tara and Darcy did have small groups of people they told first. Including Elle and Nick. And Tara herself said they weren’t going to make any public announcements or anything but then they kissed at the party and people were talking about it anyway so I think the Instagram post was just a way to confirm things so people would stop asking. I know when I came out I also told the family and friends I was comfortable telling but then I posted something about Pride to my Instagram and let people come to me about it before I came out officially a year later, also on Instagram maybe around five or so years ago

2023-09-22 10:49:49 +0000 UTCFun fact they have a blooper that's never been seen I don't think but Kit (Nick) said it once on an interview the "kissing you was one of the reasons I figured out I don't actually like kissing boys" kits first reaction was to say "ouch" so somewhere out there in the hands of the production team theres that blooper and I really kinda wanna see it ngl edit: most gays I feel don't go on milkshake dates because most of us are lactose intolerant myself included.

2023-08-24 03:24:33 +0000 UTCI think your conversation about coming out was so interesting! I actually did come out on instagram just like that. My experience, I think, was very different from a lot of people though. I didn't actually fully realize or come to terms with being bisexual until my early/mid 20s. By that time, I was already very vocal about my beliefs about the LGBTQ+ community. It took a long process of self-reflection because my core understanding of myself was being so shook up, but once I came to terms with it and accepted it about myself, I was ready to just have it out there. I only told maybe two friends before I made the post. I didn't want to have to have this conversation over and over again with all the people in my life, so I decided to just tell everyone all together. I think being older made that easier. I was already living on my own, and many of my friends were/are part of the queer community. I knew my parents well enough to know that even if they had an issue with it, they weren't going to cut me off or anything. I think my mom was a little upset that I didn't talk to her first about it, but she was still very supportive about it. So I do think the point of not being as concerned about controlling the narrative is true. I wanted everyone to know all at once because it was easiest for me at that time. I think if I had been in school, I may have done things differently. The hilarious part is that there are definitely people I went to school with who saw the post and were like yeah duh, lol.

No doubt it’s true in his case, so it’s interesting that, several times through the series, Harry shows that he knows he’s not SUPPOSED to be homophobic. He knows it’s socially undesirable, even if he can’t help himself. Where do you think THAT came from?

2023-08-03 14:40:13 +0000 UTCprobably important to realize Tara came out to her parents first, then when she told Elle, said to Elle that a few of the "inner circle" know. Then she told Nick and said they don't want to hide it as much. Then immediately after the party where they kissed, instagram confirmed it. So in a way, without us seeing it play out on screen, Tara definitely took steps also.

It was so great to recognise his voice then see him on the screen in this episode. Then the meta of watching him react to Heartstopper and this episode too. I love that Courtney was handpicked by Alice herself to record that script.

As a matter of fact, I saw this episode last evening. Seeing this today was fun watching as you approached it from a little different perspective. Great job for once again going above and beyond for all of us.

I'm a straight ally, so never had to come out, but I'm all for people coming out in whatever which way you feel is best for you/that you are comfortable with.
