You can see in this episode how much harder Nick fell for Charlie 🤍

Reem

Kit Connor and Joe Locke are both such phenomenal actors!

Alex & Josh, Tori is in the same year group as Nick so makes sense that she’s at the prom x

It is Baby Queen singing lol

Reem

Your reactions were beautiful. I have re read and re watched both s1&2 so many times. If you thought s2 was deep, Alice will bring v4-5 as well as her novella Nick and Charlie to life. Here’s my thoughts & please let Josh know that this next s will be heartbreaking 💔❤️‍🩹 S2e8 Alice has given such a strong voice to queers everywhere!!! As a very proud Italian mom of a bullied bi daughter & straight son, I love these stories, they give hope to teens and parents🤞💕 This is such an emotional “perfect” episode💔😭 with so many Easter Eggs hidden in plain sight. It’s amazing how one hickey caused Nick to come out (so much for staying low key in Paris ❤️) In an IG post, Joe confirmed that they all had so much fun filming full day of prom activities (what’s really interesting is that they said all the prom activities were improvised and filmed, nothing choreographed) and the next day of filming took them 7 hours to film because the scene was emotionally, physically and mentally draining for both 💔😭 and he said that filming started at end of day (you can actually see Kit’s tear stained eyes as Joe started talking 😭). Again Alice brought back the first time running after Charlie in S1E3 at Harry’s party (now they ran up stairs in the Louvre in s2e5 to escape guard played by the executive producer Euros. Alice once again introduced V4 book. I noticed that s2e8 opened with Nick looking at pictures on wall then looking and opening instagram whereas s2e1 opens with Charlie doing same, also s1e8 started the same as s2e1. But it is so heartbreaking to remember a smiling Nick at end of s2e1 with a very concerned Nick at end of s2e8. The scene feels as though Nick took Imogen’s advice in s2e4 “…being honest is better than living with regret.” Nick also wore the same Vanes grey Nike T-shirt and jeans he wore to Charlie’s house in s2e1. Charlie throws himself to Nick (referring to s1e6 & saying to Nick “you’re amazing” for coming out to Tara and now to everyone on Instagram (s2e8). Instead of Charlie and his sister, Tori, destroying us at the beginning of S1E8, they, Charlie and Nick, destroyed us at the end of S2E8💔😭 “Colours of you, Nick and Charlie“ is the Heartstopper anthem by Baby Queen playing as Nick posted on Instagram that he is Bi and they (the cast) are all a part of the music video.Charlie ends with “…it’s perfect” but nick’s face shows us that it’s not, it’s an illusion 💔 How can one word hold so much fear and pain 💔😭 Again because of people asking if dating, Charlie refused to eat again 😡💔😭Beautiful talk again with Tao and Nick about Charlie again (repeat of s1e5, the first time they speak at Charlie’s birthday & s1e8 when they speak at bench during lunch at yellow bench) and Nick was surprised that Charlie never spoke to anyone (especially his best friend) about the bullying, even though Nick did remember in s1e2 with bullies in hallway of gym (Alice shows us how important that relationship is, not only for Charlie but Nick too, as Toa is Charlie’s best friend and Nick’s his boyfriend ). In S1E2 Charlie asks Nick about his haircut but we knew what Nick meant when he answered “no you… it looks good” (Nick has always been obsessed with Charlie’s hair). Alice reminds us when Nick says that “you always look cute “ in v2 just after the first kiss just before Nick leaves Charlie’s house he says “You always…you always look really cute.” And in s2e8 before Nick says Charlie looks so good; the globe is unlit at beginning of scene but once Nick says “you look so good” and Nick sees Charlie the globe lights up(showing that Charlie is his whole world). Stephan Frye is back again (same as s1e8) & the same colour streamers were used in s1e8. Cameo and song by Baby Queen during Tao and Elle’s dance. We are given some treats of what’s coming for Imogene and Sahar; Isaac finally finds his book; the teachers will hopefully get what is coming in v4; and the bullies are shown there again 😡 Nick trying to find Charlie (same as Harry’s bday party of s1e3 & the louver s2e5) and both escape prom with their friends this time. At prom we were reminded of Nick and Charlie’s first time holding hands (s1e3) and running up stairs both in s1e3 and s2e5 (at Louver). They greeted Darcy and Tara with a group hug. It’s so beautiful when Taylor Swifts’ song, Seven, (just realized that the song “seven” is about our beautiful 7 home squad. Taylor’s song came on after Tara and Darcy “I love you’s”. We were then witness to their “perfect” prom. At the end, they both hugged their friends goodbye at the door (Nick at front and Charlie beside him at back) like an old married couple ❤️ It was a great way that Kit used his rugby trophy as a way for Charlie to open up about the bullying. Their emotional scene at the end showed such maturity and love from both and with tears in each other’s eyes they broke the audience 💔😭(Alice reminded us of their first hug in s1e2, when Nick grabbed Charlie for hug and now in s2e8, Nick again grabbed Charlie for hug & Alice also brought us back to the end of s1e8 when Nick wiped away a tear after telling his mom he was bi). After their talk it feels that Charlie’s struggle with food lies in being outed, the bullies and Ben. They both wanted to to say “I love you” at the door❤️They recreated their kiss in Charlie’s bedroom (same position and heels lifting up) when Charlie said “I’ll text you later” when leaving we are reminded of same scene in v2 when Nick’s leaving Charlie’s house after first kiss and saying the same and when the last song (played by Tao’s band, Wasia Project, Will on keys and his sister singing) played, with worry in Nick’s eyes and a smiling Charlie (hopefully he has found a little solace in telling Nick) wearing nick’s blue jumper (that was hanging on the chair behind Charlie) home, the same way s2e1 ended with upset tori now upset Nick and a smiling Charlie ready to say I love you ❤️True soulmates💕💕 As per interview with Alice and the filming bts on beach and sea, we are going to get Paris squad beach day, Nick packing for his trip at his house, Charlie sees pictures on Nick’s wall, infamous shower scene 🌊🏖️🛀🙇‍♂️🌅❤️!!! Yes Alice, scenes from v4. Oh my I just realized at Charlie’s party in s2e1 the whole LGBTAI+ alphabet was there in room (Tara & Darcy; then Charlie & Nick; then Elle (ally in Tao) and finally Issac). Another parallel in rewatching s1, Sara, Nick’s mom, is wearing the same colour and style of the mustard yellow jumper that she wore in s1e2 & again in s2e2. Tara and Darcy came out first to Elle in s1e2, Tara then came out to Nick in s1e3 at Harry’s birthday party & Nick came out to Tara (S1E6 girls) & Nick came out as bi at Tara’s bday party in Paris (S2E6) and they ran to teachers’ room in Paris in same running formation holding hands (down hall to school gym for concert) at the end of e6 both s1 & s2. Also, another parallel is near the end s1e8 Nick jubilantly called out “you’re my boyfriend! I’m your boyfriend! We’re boyfriends!” Near the end of s2e8, Nick whispers to Charlie “You’re my boyfriend.” The first time marked the beginning of their journey of discovery about what that means & the second one shows what Nick has truly learned what being boyfriends really means ❤️😭👨‍❤️‍👨❤️ Not sure if Alice did this on purpose, but if you look at where Nick sits, lays down, bowling, kisses Charlie, talks (with anyone), hugs, running after Charlie up stairs, the beach houses & towels they were laying on and beach houses were behind them (Nick blue side & Charlie yellow side), even when he walks Nellie he is ALWAYS on left (for both seasons). Nick starts off sitting on Charlie’s left and always sits at the blue benches outside and yellow when he talks to Tao in s1e8. On Instagram first time Nick: follows 865 and posts 53 at start of s1e1 986/58/273 at end of s2 e8 Charlie: 143 / 46 and following 179

Tina Stellato

I think maybe he was just basing his reaction to that particular moment. They have both said previously that they love the music. Baby queen is amazing 🙂

Cathy Mills

Sexuality starts with feelings. It’s your feelings about other people, about sex and gender, that creates desires, and without desires not much happens (as Isaac is illustrating). What’s so infuriating about people who say “you can’t be a bi woman if you’re married to a man” is that they’re telling YOU how YOU actually feel deep inside. Worse, they’re telling you how you SHOULD feel deep inside, what your deepest feelings are SUPPOSED to be. That’s offensive, and straight society has been doing that to us for centuries. So it’s painful when someone on our own team makes the same error. I see no conflict between being a bisexual woman and marrying a man. It’s the feelings inside that matter. They may be expressed right now in a way that looks rather heterosexual on the outside, but so what? If you don’t understand that, you don’t understand what bisexuality actually is.

Steve Teeter

Heartstopper Season 3 is officially in production!!!!

Silme Elen

Can't believe you dissed the band that is literally the soundtrack of Heartstopper!!! Baby Queen...... I still love you but seriously!!!

Ann-Marie Still

The ominous silence☝️🤐🫸of Alex, as he wound his anger up, getting ready to read Darcy’s hideous mum to FILTH… after the scene 🎬 between her & Tara🚪… was EVERYTHING!!!!

Gavin Best

re: crushes you didn't know were crushes, not 11 yr old me insisting my best friend and i change together so we could "compare bras" 💀💀💀

b

i love the way they did the imogen progression, from "it'd be easier if i was into girls", to snuggling with sahar in paris, then the bit in truth or dare about them not talking anymore once imogen had a boyfriend, sahar saying she's bi... SO GOOD

b

rewatching the scene with nick and tao at the prom setup, with how careful nick is not to give away charlie's eating issues, he says "bullying and other things that happened to him" which made me realize that nick is actually the only one who knows about ben (imogen suspected, the teacher knew of a boy, i guess he did tell tori some), meaning charlie had kept a huge thing from his core friend group. they're missing that major piece of charlie's issues. makes it even more amazing that charlie was comfortable with nick knowing his friends/being the one to really decide when to reveal their relationship to them last season.

b

I don't plan on admitting how many times I've re-watched the moment of realization with Imogen 😆

Jacqui Chesterton

What you said about people assuming someone in a homosexual relationship is gay versus bi speaks strongly to bi erasure. I'm bi in a heterosexual relationship and often encounter the opposite assumptions. Lesson being, people shouldn't make assumptions!

Morgan Arguello

Katie, like Suzy and Amanda said, my story is very similar. I'm 31, been with my husband 10 years, have 4 children, and although I knew I was bi in college, never told anyone (apart from my spouse) until recently. Realized that may have been a misstep when I asked for a shirt referencing my bi-ness from my mom for my birthday. Conversation went like this, "Are you?" "Probably should have mentioned that. Yep, I am." "Okay, ordered the shirt. Happy birthday!" Extremely lucky in the family department! It's so great to meet people in a similar situation, after feeling alone for so long. <3

Morgan Arguello

Josh really doesn’t know 💔😭😡especially as Alice brings her books to life😭like what she accomplished in both s1&2

Tina Stellato

I left a similar comment to yours, I totally understand. I just found heartstopper at the end of august and binged both seasons in one night and then spent the whole weekend in a heartstopper haze of watching reactions to it over and over. I only just realized and started to figure out I'm bi about 2 years ago and thought i had fully accepted it but this show truly opened my heart and changed me, who knew a show could do that! it shows representation truly matters. Im also in my 30s and been with my husband 12 years. This show is like a huge warm hug i didnt know i need and im so happy its the same for others. I dont know you but im proud of you!

Amanda P

It is Tori's year group btw. Tori and Nick have done their GCSEs and Charlie is a year younger. That's why he didn't have exams also :)

Jacqui Chesterton

Katie, I feel seen.

Suzy Dillinger

I didn't discover heartstopper until after season 2 was out and I binged both seasons all at once and I have watched it over and over and over again since then I also got all the books and have been reading and rereading and at the age of 36 I finally had the courage to live my truth I've known since I was 14 that I was bisexual but never really felt comfortable putting it out there and within my family, friends, school etc it wouldn't have been any issue at all I would have been a lucky one ....I have been with my husband for 20 years married for 11 and we have a 9 year old daughter and I've only just told him ( not an issue he is my person either way) ....these young actors play these characters so well and they are so inspiring...and my heart breaks for Kit Connor for being forced out before he was ready but I hope he realizes how not just him but the entire cast has helped so many people speak their own truth and I hope Netflix doesn't screw this up and season 3 is everything we all hope it's going to be and I really hope it gets a season 4 !!!

Katie Arnold

It actually needs to happen exactly like in the comics! It NEEDS TOO!! It is my fav scene from the comics so I really hope it makes it into the show, but I have faith in Alice! So far they stayed so true to the comics, I have never seen a better adaptation!!

Nicky Van den Bosch

this season was so powerful and so emotional i cryed in nearly every episodes its was so beautiful to watch and the cast and the writers and everyone who was in this and music its was perfect and u can feel the connection and feel there pain as well its perfect and i love it u can see how much he love char and care for him and i love it and i do agree with u nick is boyfriend that char need in his life that will stand up for him and just be there for him its was so beautiful to see this and kit and joe who played {nick & char} need to get warded for this its so beautiful scene .

lisa mcarthur

After your opening monologue I should point out you both look stunning, proud of you making such an effort

Mark Smith

I honestly can't get over both your reactions to the interrupted 'I love....' 😲😏 I will say though, if they recreate what was done in the comics, you will probably laugh and cry. I tear up every time I imagine Kit and Joe acting out that scene!

Jared

I'm enjoying u guys way to much in here XD

Samuel Fernandez

Before prom Charlie tells Nick everyone's expecting them. It's clearly important to Charlie. The two walking into prom holding hands is a statement: Yes! We're together! If making that statement was what was needed, no reason to hang around any longer once it's done.

Steve Teeter

Can I just say how greatful I am to read such comments coming from parents? My parents reacted OK when I finally came out. But it took me until age 21 to speak to them, and even then, it felt very uncomfortable bc they were not actively showing openess to diversity before. Just you two watching HS with your kids and speaking about all the issues is sooo uplifting! Knowing that things are getting better for all the (queer or not queer) kids out there feels great. Thanks a lot!

symmetrik

I joined your Patreon after watching you react to this episode on Youtube…I HAD to know what you thought of that final scene fully…and you didn’t disappoint. You felt what I felt and it was so necessary for me to share these feelings people, so far I’ve only ever watched alone. Thank you 💕

Matthew Binczek

Rewatching this show has personally become a bonding experience because it’s such a beautiful story and great representation. I feel that when I watch it with most peers that they may not understand or digest some of the more nuanced messaging and watching you guys experience this show felt like a warm hug. You’d pause and discuss some powerful and underrated moments that I’ve yearned to discuss on tumblr or other socials. There is so much subtext in this show and these characters are comfort for those who needed a Charlie in their life, someone who loves unconditionally, a Nick, someone who cares to understand and listen, a Darcy, who loves others so fully they will give their all to support, etc. All of these people, just like in many of Alice’s novels, are dealing with true internal sadness and self conflict, but it’s through supporting one another and being there with people who share very similar feelings or experiences that they find solace and moments of pure joy. Thank you guys for all of your insights as well throughout the show. As a bisexual person, this season felt very validating and hearing your perspectives of how this show has made you feel pays tribute to the bigger picture of what this story really was made for. It’s all about support, found family, embracing your truest self and communicating with and supporting the people that matter most in your life. Beautiful season and can’t wait for you guys to see Season 3!💜

Jahne Zachary

That last conversation broke me. A masterful performance by both. I love that you just let it run without pausing. Just taking it in. It was beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. I can't wait for the next season. Great reaction!

Sofia

Ugh I love y’all so much lol. Truly did not disappoint. Also I’m still recovering from the last 16 minutes of the finale. Lol

Lorianne

What a masterpiece.

John Walker

What will the next series bring? Josh: Hopefully more joy... Oh josh I have bad news for you.

Clara Eyding

I agree with the reasoning and had not noticed the lighting colours. It will be interesting to see that journey and maybe Nick can almost be a guide the way Tara was for him.

Rosie Dickinson

Yes lesbians have the best gaydar. ☺️

Julie Baker

Love the bowties! Kit was brilliant in that final scene but Joe's quiet vulnerability and subtleties in the final section just blew me away. They're both gonna go far that's for sure.

Kay

OMG I just realized that the last song was performed by Will’s band, Wasia, with Will playing piano 😭💔😭💔

Tina Stellato

First, you both look so dashing. Second, I loved how speechless you both were at the end. I felt the same way. I'm so sad it's over, but I look forward to your upcoming content.

Heidi Roush

Kit's acting in that intense conversation scene with Charlie blew me away, he's extremely talented!

Becca D❤️

same

Suzy Dillinger

Their reactions are EVERYTHING

Suzy Dillinger

Oh! Good catch on the colours! I heard someone say that Imogen could be demi-sexual (which I had to look up) Basically, the she forms romantic bonds with people only after she has known them for awhile, Nick... Ben... and we know Sahar was her best friend for ages. Interesting idea - but I think she's having an awakening and is caught somewhat off guard by these sudden feelings.

Suzy Dillinger

Also the colours shading her in the scene where she is feeling butterflies while looking at Sahar are the lesbian pride flag colours paralleling the bi-colours that shaded Nick in season 1 when he saw Tara and Darcy kissing on the dancefloor.

Luna

I'm thinking Alice is more leaning toward a comphet lesbian storyline for Imogen. For both cases of her r/s with Nick and Ben she kinda has shallow reasoning as to why she likes them. In season 1 she starts to "like" Nick cause all their friends tease them about getting together. In this season, she gives the reason she likes Ben as "he is one of my oldest friends" so I don't think she has actually had true romantic feelings before, until Sahar, and that's what she will realise next season. That she is actually a lesbian. Just my two cents.

Luna

Haven't seen you two so quiet since episode 9 of Skam OG! Kit Connor's acting in that scene was stellar!

Jacqueline Hahn

Alice is Aro/Ace. Her book Loveless, which we see displayed a few times and is one of the books Issac buys in Paris, is also about an Aro/Ace character. It’s a great book if you haven’t read it

Laurie Barber

Kit Connor’s face and voice show such deep emotion in the final scenes. He allows Nick to say “I love you” in so many ways, before and after Liv’s untimely return, silencing Alex and Josh for an unprecedented 7 minutes. What a lovely bit of film making that will embrace us until Heartstopper 3 is released.

Dan Tackett

Same!😄

JustinThyme

as someone who is bi this meant a lot to me <3

Dd44 🩷💜💙

Great reaction video to an awesome show. I really liked the conversation about Nick making sure everyone knows he’s bi. It’s clearly important to his identity and as a bi male dating another male most people would assume he is gay. I’m very happy this show is showing what’s important to everyone about their identities. Very fun video and truly a deeper, more complex ending to this season. I look forward to your fall lineup!

JustinThyme

There's nothing wrong with Charlie. Of COURSE there's nothing wrong with Charlie. We all know that. Charlie in the HeartStopper comics, and Charlie in this series, is the same. He's kind, sensitive, creative, empathic, so much so that he is extremely vulnerable to trauma. And this is what his fellow students were allowed to do to him, because he came out before he was ready. They bullied and traumatized him. This is a story as old as time. There's nothing wrong with Nick. Nick had a different path, maybe more confusing. But just a bit more... secure. Some fundamental security happened for Nick, through his Mother it seems, and so Nick is (just a bit) stronger, safer, at this stage in the journey. Charlie and Nick are story characters, but they are also real. Tara and Darcy are story characters, but they are also real. Tao and Elle are story characters, but they are also real. Issac is a story character, but he is also real. We are, we know, LGBTQ couples and singles who love each other, who are tender with each other, who bring out the best in each other--like these characters. Universe bless Alice Osemann for telling these stories, for bringing these characters to life. We love them. We are rooting for them. We want nothing but the best for each one of them. Thanks Alex and Josh for your open-hearted responses to these stories.

David Gadd

The way my heart broke watching you all stunned to silence 🥺 thank you for another lovely season! (ps you may want to see who that last song is by ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_k2XcLsxXnw&ab_channel=WasiaProject)

Rowan

Same here

Diane Furlong

Yes, I forgot about the age difference.

Dennis Verner

This season was really good. Deeper for sure. Enjoyed watching it again with you guys! And now we wait 😭

Joe Lancaster

👀👀👀😉

A Story Worth Telling

Tiny observation...Josh always reminds us to stay well-hydrated! He's had the glass forever! OK, comments. The book that Isaac took was part of a set up that James and him had earlier in the season. Darcy, in her way, has a similar relationship to her parents as Ben does with his (or would), except Darcy doesn't fully hide it, and Ben does, so Ben's parents actually treat him better (you see them in Episode 1 when the teachers point out Charlie's grades are not as good (due to Nick). Ben's parents would treat him (or at least he thinks so) like Darcy's mother, except Ben's parents don't know, so he's the model son, to them. Just before Tao asks Elle to be his girlfriend, he looks at a brochure for Lambert, hinting he will likely join Lambert as a photographer (think Paris). Also, as with many modern series, there's a lot of songs and most of them are picked for their lyrics. It's good to watch the show and pay attention to the lyrics because, like the animation, they serve as commentary to what's going on. The Alice Oseman graphic novels do cover Charlie's eating disorder and cutting, as well, though changes were made to make the scenes more dramatic. Also, some characters don't exist in the book, particularly, Isaac and Imogen. There's a character like Isaac, but it's possible they might save him for a different show as Oseman has written other stuff. I think Oseman herself might be asexual, but I'm not sure.

Charlzz

"Just please don't stop my heart again." ... side eye

momoroxy

OMG, I cried the first time I watched this episode. But watching both your reactions. I have no words. This seasons was amazing/beautiful for so many different reasons x

Clash

Thank you: Drag queen rehearsal speech has been added to my vocabulary.

justhereforfun

Though, he's a year below her in school so he would have to wait for the following year and she would be moving into her last year probably. College in the UK is a 2 year course. But, maybe they could go to the same university. Charlie and Nick will gave the same problem - the age difference

Dionne Lakey

I absolutely loved this season. And as always I loved your reactions. That last conversation between Nick and Charlie hit me super hard. The hating yourself after hearing things for so long is something that I can really relate to so I was just bawling and hugging my fiance. He is my Nick and it has helped so much. This show makes us feel all sorts of ways. lol

Jeffery Blankenship

“Hello I’m Josh and I’ll be your waiter tonight … “

USAZ

How are you guys feeling after all that

camero3266

oh Alex's and Josh's faces broke my heart throughout this series, but especially at the end!

Suzy Dillinger

This may have already been said, but Tao's revelation that he feels responsible for Charlie's outing really helps us understand why he is soooo protectve of Charlie. When you go back and watch the entire series you will pick up so many little things that were missed on the first viewing. I can't wait to watch the next series you tackle! xo

Suzy Dillinger

Alex, is that THE chain???

Giris

Rumours that Imogen is pan

camero3266

Is actually the artist on stage singing baby queen

camero3266

I adored both your reactions! Such a thoughtful response. Kit and Joe especially handled that scene with so much grace and compassion and intelligence. Hopefully we get another season beyond the third season so much more of their story to tell!

D

I binged the show all in the first day I highly regretted it as I was a mess for at least a week 😂

Joshy B

I'm probably reaching but Tao looking at Elle's school prospectus. Do you think that's a hint that he is thinking of applying? It just says pre-degree and college. Could be any major.

Dennis Verner

Such a cute show 🥰. So when is your next Young Royals reactions? 👑💙

Marstrand

You guys were me watching those final ten minutes play out. Ugh. So well done. I love that they didn’t have any music during that conversation in Nick’s bedroom - just this quiet and powerful moment sandwiched by two of the most beautiful music moments in the series. Sometimes knowing when not to put music is just as important as finding the perfect song.

Kat

Just a grab bag of complicated emotions with this season!!

Trisha Renee

Darcys mom is an arse! She just sounded so cold. I'm glad they all finally had their own private prom, that looked so fun. I love the talk between Darcy and Tara, and omg that end scene with Charlie and Nick was so needed and so well done; it had me teary-eyed.

Sara Nissen

The shocked/concerned look on Nick's face when Tao says that Charlie never talked about the bullying to him either 😭 I know that Nick's heart is in the right place, but it is hard for a person dealing with issues like Charlie to make and keep promises. It's not that he doesn't want to, but it is easy to get caught up in your own headspace.

Mike

They couldn’t hire a real band. Clearly, that’s not them singing……. meanwhile, that’s Baby Queen on stage, actually singing. That was the funniest thing ever, sorry guys.❤️

Amber

how did you hear about filming? was it an interview, I can't find it anywhere where they talk about certain scenes but id love too!

charlie

I feel that this season was much more polished than last season with a much better script and acting that has shifted up a gear, with some great performances throughout. Kit Connor has such an expressive face that communicates so many feelings. In an interview Connor said that the final scene in the bedroom took seven hours to film because they wanted to get it completely right; I think they succeeded. As usual the series is generally upbeat but doesn't shy away from the struggles that LGBTQ+ people have to put up with daily as demonstrated by the homophobia of Nick's brother and Darcey's mother. One telling phrase that Charlie uttered in the final scene was "I thought things were better nowadays", in some respects they are but there is still a lot of improvement required. I'll stop now as i can sense myself getting on my soapbox. lol. Great series and great reactions from Alex and Josh, with Alex's face almost as expressive as Kit Connors giving everything away and Josh a bit more restrained but he cannot fool us, he's feeling it too :). Take it easy boys and keep on reacting.

Pip

in the comics, it’s actually his inner upper arms (near his armpits) where you can see the scars and that’ll probably be the case in the show if we ever see them seeing as we’ve seen charlie in t-shirts before but i thought the little detail of him subconsciously touching his arms during that convo about his eating was so well placed because it did foreshadow this reveal for a second

Lisa

I just loooooved your reaction to this last episode ♥️🥹

Frances

First, loved the reaction. ❤️😭 After EP 7, I was close to telling you to be sure not to interrupt that last 7 minutes because it is just so powerful. Not surprised it naturally happened. S1 ended on such a high note it felt like getting shot thru the heart. S2's ending feels more like being slammed by a semi truck! 🚛 I swear my life feels like it can be defined as who I was before Heartstopper and who I am after each season. Each season, so far, has found and pulverized dams within me that I didn't even know were there before. I look back at who is was previously and I almost don't recognize that person. I'm almost afraid of what S3 is going to do to me. 😰

Jared

I’ve been in a long-term, monogamous relationship with my husband (18 years and counting - I’m in my mid-40s) so I’ve also had so many people tell me that I can no longer claim to be bi/pan, as I have no intention of pursuing same-sex relationships in the future. That is absolutely bi/pan erasure! I still feel attraction towards others of various gender identities, however fleetingly. You don’t stop being human or noticing other people, so to completely dismiss the attraction that I feel (that old saying of “just because you’re on a diet doesn’t mean that you stop looking at the menu”) and TELLING me that I’m now “straight” drives me nuts! As you say, it’s even supposed “allies” and other people in the queer community who do it.

Sam S

I kind of really like that the conversations are more 'self-actualized' between the characters. While it may not be realistic, I think it articulates the emotions young people feel during a very confusing stage of life. I'm a former cutter, and having heard a conversation so well articulated in media could have helped me sort through my shit much easier (granted, I was a teenager in the 90s and resources were much more scarce than today.) I like that they really get to the heart of deep topics with the emotions and mental load behind them. Also when I was in the thick of my cutting, I promised a bunch of people that I would stop or reach out for help, knowing full well it was an empty promise.... I'm curious if Charlie just did the same thing.

Sorry to keep going on - but I also really relate to what you say about drifting from the LGBTQ+ community when in a het relationship. At it's best it makes me feel so understood and seen (I have really amazing queer friends), and at it's worse folks can gatekeep and accuse people like me of "straight passing" and somehow not as included if they are bi and in a het relationship. As if "straight passing" is not 50% of the possibility when you're bi. Just hammers in for me to believe people's experience (they don't need to prove their queerness to you) and kindness and acceptance always.

Adrienne Gosselin

I literally woke up 5 minutes ago and started freaking out when I realized that this was posted I will be adding onto this comment as I watch the video! Ok so this is going to get personal for me but it needs to be said. I've said this probably 20+ times and I'll keep saying it. That language in the last scene in Nick's room is so powerful. "Please tell me if it ever gets that bad again". Instead of saying something like "stop for me" or even just "please stop" because the reality is, is that there will be slip ups that's all part of healing. I had people tell me "stop for me" and the healing after the slip ups is worse because that feeling like you've failed someone or let someone down is extremely strong. And someone who's never gone through that can never fully grasp why it's so important to use language like "please tell me if it ever gets that bad". And what's even better is Nick wasn't getting mad at Charlie for it. He was supporting Charlie in the best way he can. And I almost wish my parents had done that with me. Because it just shows how much that kind of thing does effect queer people and people who are apart of the LGBTQ+ community. Because the sad reality is a lot of queer teens do those kinds of things. And a lot of queer kids have EDs because they can't control a lot that's in their lives but some things they can control. And all you can do for someone is just be there for them. Hug them. Cuddle them. Just be there for the support in their healing process. Anyways. Fun facts about this season because why not. Baby queen (I think that's her name) actually played that song that Tao and Elle were dancing to. The song is called Just Like Heaven by The Cure. That scene after they all left prom was all improvised. And alot of their laughs were genuine. That scene in Nick's room top upwards of 7 hours to film because of just how emotional it is. There are a lot of bloopers that made it into the show. On the bridge when Tao starts dancing is a blooper. In their room when they are reading where wally that was a blooper. I'm guessing that the scene after Tao closes the door when Elle is there and is freaking out is a blooper but I'm not 100% sure. They filmed any scene that was in the hotel back in the UK and the scene where Charlie passes out was also filmed in the UK. Alot of the outside scenes where filmed in Paris and they only had a week to film all of the scenes in Paris that they filmed. Any of the kissing scene while they look so natural and not at all like they are planned they are actually planned heavily even to where their hand placements go. Joe and Kit have said before that this seasons kissing scenes weren't as awkward as last season because of how great friends they are. Its always gonna be slightly awkward but it's not as awkward as before. That's why they seem like better kissers this season. The hicky scene was probably slightly more awkward to film but they knew every little detail about what was gonna happen with it so it's not as bad. The wave wall that was in season 1 a lot. I think it's only is 1 or 2 scenes this season but they added to it. Its got stars and boats on it now. When the teacher scene happens in the hotel there is blue and yellow lighting like the Nick are Charlie scenes. When Nick and Charlie are outside of Tara's party there is 1 shot of their shoes and they are wearing the exact same shoes on the back cover of the first book. There is a lot of scenes where Alice Osmans books are actually in shot. The scene in the book store in France there is This Winter, Radio Silence, and all 4 of her published Heartstopper books as well as Issac id holding a Loveless book. There is a Loveless book on the bed in the hotel scene with the recharging line. When Isaac is talking to James at the bookstore in the UK there is also a Loveless book and for those who don't know Loveless is about a college student realizing she is aroace. At the "Hear and Queer"' art exhibition when Darcy goes to leave there is a silloete of Tara and Darcy's first public kiss at Harry's party. Kizzy has said that them and Alice have talked about Darcy having a non binary story line because Kizzy is non binary. This was the last season with Ben in it and I'm not 100% sure but it might be the last season with Harry in it as well but again I'm not 100% sure. Cormac (Harry) was actually 16 when shooting the first season that's why he looked alot younger then the rest of the cast. Most of the cast and crew are apart of the LGBTQ+ community. And a lot of the cast are actually the sexuality that they play because really for instance someone like Elle you can only cast her is 1 way. Another thing I love is the non binary representation with Felix and the disabled representation because you don't get enough of that is any kind of media and as someone who is disabled it's nice to see that shown in media. Anyways that's all for now and its alot because #hyperphyxation.

Makayla Hall

going back and watching season 1, Alice did a fantastic job showing the subtleties of all the issues that are going to come forward. It pays off in the rewatch to see how much, we the audience, also don't know how bad Charlie was the whole time. He barely eats food all of season 1 too. And yes in the comics, I believe that arm area is where Charlie had cut himself.

Mads

I'm getting married to the love of my life next year (who happens to be a man) and I've had people around me who are "allies" who make comments about "me not being bi/queer anymore" because I'm in a monogamous relationship with a man... My own sister who previously called herself bi (because she is 100% attracted to women) no longer sees herself as bi because she married a man and "doesn't want to be poly." The confusion is real and why talking about bi erasure is so healing. So thank you Nick for constantly setting the record straight.

Adrienne Gosselin

I relate to this so much. People online have teased Nick about constantly saying "I'm bi, actually" but this feels so so so so so true. If I'm dating a girl I'm called a lesbian, (which is not a bad thing I'm just not and it feels inauthentic to claim such) if I'm dating a guy I'm assumed straight, which definitely doesn't feel right. I'm just bi, actually. What's frustrating about being bi is that unless you're in a polyamorous relationship with both a man and a woman, people 100% assume you're gay or straight. And while neither gay or straight are bad, it's a big confusing deal to figure out you're bi and forces the imposter syndrome because people are CONSTANTLY assuming and alleging.

Adrienne Gosselin

That last scene is so important because it sets up the Nick-Charlie dynamic. Charlie has become a master of hiding his problems, & general anxieties from everyone that he has convinced himself his issues aren't that big of a deal. It's why the last scene is sooo vital. They have this intense, vulnerable conversation where Charlie shares the saddest parts of himself, and then literally walks away from it, feeling GOOD because Nick almost said I love you. Charlie barely understands the weight that conversation contained, because hes so used to his own pain, his own history, he didn't even consider how shaken all that information is taken in by Nick, who behind the closed door, is terrified for charlie. Joe Locke plays Charlie so well, glimpses into this version of charlie since season 1, consider the Bully episode where Harry antagonizes Charlie at the movie theater. Nick is so upset over the way Harry is acting and Charlie says "it's literally fine Nick, I'm used to it" and he means that, he barely cares much, its status quo for Charlie. Nick gets in a fight over it, & Charlie blames HIMSELF for that. Charlie tries so hard with "I'm happy, I'm fun, I'm a brave person" facade because its who he wishes he was & tries to be. It's hard being a capable, smart, kind, person who also happens to be dealing with demons, you don't want the demons to define you. Not wanting to be a burden and certainly never wanting anyone to know your struggles because it's so embarrassing how "weak" you feel even having those thoughts, so you overcompensate (like Darcy too) to exude bravery. That fact is going to permeate season 3. I know everyone gives Kit his flowers for his portrayal, but as someone who resonates with Charlies struggles, Joe Locke is encapsulating the quiet mental health struggles beautifully. Hes not a damsel in distress despite his demons, that complexity is rare because most shows make the mental health person a complete disaster, instead of the truth, they are often, sometimes, the strongest person you know.

Mads

The ending gives me chills. Charlie is experiencing such optimism after leaving Nicks. And then Nick is sort of processing the real weight of what Charlie’s told him. And you can feel both the optimism and the weight of the unknown. The way they’ve set up for Season 3 is both terrifying and exciting. All of the things!!! Been so fun watching with you guys as always. Excited for what’s next!! ❤️

Dani

I don’t know that I’ve ever watched a scene and been able to feel every emotion from both characters so clearly and so deeply as that final scene. It definitely takes a moment to recover from. They did a stunning job. Life just isn’t perfect, and expecting yourself or your life to be can lead to so much anxiety, you will always be a failure to yourself with that mindset. Can we talk about how incredibly brave Darcy is?!?!? How many kids in her position would have the courage to be themselves at school when they’ve grown up in that type of environment? There’s a lot of talk right now of whether or not schools should have the right to out trans kids to their parents, Saskatchewan Canada being the latest to pass anti-trans legislation, and Darcy’s storyline really throws light on just how dangerous that has the potential to be. I’m sure we will still get the goofy silly cheesey joy filled scenes and vibes in season 3…. But omg I’m also terrified for where the deeper story lines are going ❤️‍🩹

Hannah Howden

I have found that due to the age difference between my boys, I’m having to explain and contextualise some of the themes and interactions for my 9 year old, whereas my 13 year old has already seen others/his friends experience some of these things, or has experienced them for himself. My eldest has started having crushes, which has brought up some interesting discussions too, whilst watching HS. I think being able to have these open discussions with our kids means they know that nothing is taboo, and that they know we’ll support them unconditionally as they discover more about themselves over time.

Sam S

Nt_nt

I also watch the show with my sons (ages 8 and 10). This season was definitely deeper and it brought up a lot of issues my kids haven’t been exposed to yet (or have only in passing), so I think it was really educational for us to all discuss together. One of my favorite things about this show is how beautifully it models healthy communication and supportive relationships (romantic, friendships, and family relationships). It’s so lovely to have something in popular media that I can turn to as a parent and say to my kids “this is an example of something good” and talk about why and how words and actions can affect other people. It’s also really great for me to watch as a parent, especially this season, to see the different examples of supportive and unsupportive parenting styles, and how I can be better for my kids.

Charlie

Thank you so much for this!! This was a really wild ride. Can't wait for the next season, and I also can't wait for the next show you guys are going to react to! Have you guys decided what show you want to watch next?

Abby

Very well said!

Ann Farrelly

This episode broke me. The ending with Tara and Darcy and Nick and Charlie's conversations were some of the best writing and acting throughout the entire season.

indigo

I love all the parts that show pain is so much easier to bear when you have connection and community. That part when the whole group hugs Tara and Darcy hugging just kills me. Heartstopper is as much a love story about friendship and community as it is about romance.

Adrienne Gosselin

These young actors…all of them, but Kit and Joe in particular, are amazing. The choices they make, and the depth and nuance in their performances blows me away.

Ann Farrelly

You two are making such a positive impact on our community and for Allies too. I've been recommending you to EVERYONE!

Suzy Dillinger

Alex and Josh, Great episode! Thank You for playing that entire last scene uninterrupted! I get teary eyed every time that I’ve watched this episode. This morning there were real tears as I watched your faces as you absorbed the entire scene. Nick/Kit has made me cry several times over these two seasons plus one near heart attack at the Eiffel Tower. What a Season! As always, Thank You Alex and Josh 💕

Diane Furlong

It is them singing! It’s Baby Queen. She’s all over the soundtrack of Heartstopper.

Massiel Lago

The strikes aren’t affecting Heartstopper, it’s a British production, not an American one. Alice Oseman is finishing up season 3 scripts now and it has been said that filming starts in October. They just aren’t promoting and stuff in solidarity of the strikes, but legally they cannot actually strike and delay production.

Ophelia

I watched it at least 20 times till now but with you it was definitely much more intense than alone. Thanks for sharing it with us and make me feel we watch it together. I'm looking forward to the collaboration with Jackie, maybe you could watch your favorite HS episodes and react together, I would love that. But I think I watch everything you do together. So, thanks for the goosebumps today. ♥️

Prinsassy

100% these two are perfect together. I love watching them 💞

Prinsassy

Yes. Alex and Josh’s friendship is definitely one of the reasons why I love this Patreon.

Graham & Ruth May

Yes! Definitely a little bit Alexis! 😉

Graham & Ruth May

I totally get that. I identify as pansexual (formerly identified as bi when I was younger, but I feel that pan better describes me now). I am married to a man, so to most people who don’t know me well, I appear straight when in actual fact neither my husband nor I identify that way. As a result, I feel that I’ve had to come out repeatedly over the years - people make assumptions, but if they become a closer friend then I choose to share my sexuality with them. I also have to battle a sense of “imposter syndrome” when celebrating my queerness, as even the queer community makes assumptions based on the fact that I am a woman married to a man. We have 3 boys, and we have openly discussed with my older two (who are 9 and 13 years old) that neither their dad nor I identify as straight. They both understand pansexuality and what it means. We feel that it’s important that they know that we love and accept whoever they choose to love, and that by fighting bi/pan erasure at home, it will help them explore their own sexualities as they get older.

Sam S

I was so looking forward to you guys seeing Imogen looking at Sahar, thank you!😂 In my opinion this is the best episode of the show so far. Josh put it perfectly, it leaves you wondering how to feel and the buildup throughout the episode is executed so well. Watching it for the first time, I could barely hold myself together when Tao talked about losing his dad or when Tara was confronted with Darcy's mum, then I was so relieved when they were slow dancing at home, away from all the attention...only for Alice to drop that bombshell of an ending scene on us (mind you, I've read the books and knew it was coming). And Kit portrayed these conflicting feelings so well when Nick turns at the doorstep and the smile he put on for Charlie fades away. I believe this season it's rather through Nick's pov that we find out about Charlie's past experiences as he opens up to him, whereas in the first season we kinda learn more about Nick and his journey the closer Charlie gets to him. I'm excited to see where they'll take this in season 3 but I already know Joe und Kit will do their best to break me.

JayJay

Kit Connor and Joe Locke are perfect together! You can see the trust and love they have for each other that allows them to put it all into Nick and Charlie. That ending scene was so powerful, Nick giving charlie an opportunity to speak while just listening and not interrupting until it was his time to respond. Nick's bedroom really felt like a safe space to me all season, almost like that's all charlie needs to feel loved and comfortable enough to be vulnerable in that space. LOVED IT. Nick was so careful in how he answered too and the way he was putting on a brave face for charlie until he shut the door was so bittersweet but tells you everything about him as a character. Perfect season.

rachael

Not me crying on a Wednesday morning! I thought this was a really good contrast to the previous episode. Like, every time Charlie says “perfect”, I wait for the penny to drop. Incidentally, my prom also ended for me with a friend running away crying and is going and having fast food late at night in our dresses and suits.

pawntksqueen

That last scene hits me everytime but watching your faces made me cry even more 😢 I love the fact they made the world globe light up when they hugged in their suits ❤️ it's the small things that matter. I'm going to miss watching this with you guys. Ok let's be real, I'll just rewatch them again and again 🤣 already guilty of that. Looking forward to more young royals reactions, just watched the series and I love it. Thank you for being so amazing ❤️

Cathy Mills

Oh my Goodness, I haven’t even started watching the video and I get this Cuteness Alert! Alex and Josh what a cute Prom couple! 😍 Okay now, time for the video

Diane Furlong

I only just binged the 2 seasons on Friday and literally spent the whole weekend rewatching it through reactions. This show is just so beautiful and so well done. Im glad I found your channel, you guys have been a joy to watch and have made me laugh really hard. Over the last couple years I came to realize I'm bi and I felt like I had accepted it but watching this show just made me feel so happy and seen and literally feels like it changed my life which could sound silly but I feel like a new person after having experienced this show. So many parts of the show I see myself in and especially with Charlie at the end of this episode it hurts me so much because I was horribly bullied in school and also self harmed and it always hurts seeing a character talk about it. But I'm glad the show brings up these subjects, it's so important. I've not been doing well mentally and heartstopper was like a big warm hug. Anyways sorry I rambled, just really enjoyed watching this with you 💜

Amanda P

I noticed this the first time I watched it. Amazing 😍

Cathy Mills

It is a conscious way of fighting bi erasure. This is my identity and I took time effort and tears to figure it out please do not take that from me. It fights back against some of the persistent bi stereotypes that it is a phase, your trying to be interesting, or (sorry Josh) it is just internalised homophobia and you don't want to admit that you are gay. My sexuality is valid and I am going to embrace it. (sorry that sounds more combative than I wanted it to but the point is the same so just imagine it said with a smile and a hug)

Rosie Dickinson

Absolutely loved your reaction as always. Every time I watch that last scene I end up crying and watching your reaction to it was no exception. Alice has done such a wonderful job with bringing the graphic novels to life and adding those pieces to make it a show that is just beautiful. On a lighter note, Alex was a little bit Alexis with his winking 😉

Laura Ibarra

It can be hard being bi in a straight relationship too, because queer culture can be very insulated and you have to work a little harder to not drift from the LGBTQ community. When I've been in relationships with women, I had to do mini coming outs all the time when I was trying to do traditionally gay events with a straight girlfriend. Before I got older and more comfortable doing that, I would pretty much restructure my entire social life depending on the gender of the person I was dating. So, I get Charlie wanting to make sure everyone knows he's bi.

Luke

You guys both look very cute in your prom outfits 🥰. This episode is such a LOT that I am not surprised that you were speechless for the last scene in particular. Alex, your reaction to the conversation between Nick and Charlie had me reaching for the tissues. I think you can tell that there’s a lot to be further explored in season 3 and no easy resolution to Charlie’s problems with carrying all that past trauma. The fact that he says they don’t need to talk about it and that it’s over now is a telling indication that it’s not and they do. Although it’s a beautiful relationship and Nick is saying that he’s going to support Charlie, it’s such a complex issue, an eating disorder and now added to that, self-harming, that it’s not going to be possible for an admittedly very mature teenager to provide the solution, however much he wants to and thinks he can. In my own experience, it’s helpful to have the expertise of a professional outside the personal circle and it’s still a long, difficult path, but one that can lead to understanding and healing. We know that Heartstopper is optimistic, although it isn’t afraid to explore the deeper issues, so we can expect more drama in season 3, but also a hopeful and positive outlook. Thanks for a heartfelt and thoughtful response to the finale, guys. I love these uncut reactions and I love you guys. ❤️👏

Graham & Ruth May

I loved that you guys were so invested in the conversation that didn’t speak, it made it perfect! I’m going to miss them , next season will be more dark so get ready boys.

Wildallie Diaz

Great episode, the fact the Charlie opened his heart to Nick , the only person he has talked fully about his bullying, says sooooo much about thier love for each other

steve johnson

I love that this season didn’t try to sugar-coat the struggles that each of the characters was experiencing, as every single one in their friendship group was having to deal with something big in their own lives or their own relationships. It felt slightly more true to the books, as the books are wonderful, yet deal with the deeper stuff too. Hold onto to your seats for season 3! I have loved though, that as much as this season has dealt with the deeper issues, it’s still something that I can watch with my 9 and 13 year old sons, and it brings up issues that we can unpack and discuss, in the same way that we did in season 1. It’s a great template for seeing what healthy and unhealthy relationships and interactions can look like, which will set them up for their own future relationships, whatever those might look like.

Sam S

I can't believe it's over... 😭💔 Now we have to wait at least 1 year 😱😔

Prinsassy

bye, actually. <-- Made me laugh really loud

Gerard

I found this episode so hard to watch, like others in the comments, the description of bullying really brought it all back (I too was called disgusting to my face, and I remember it so clearly even 40 years later). I know that Charlie still has some stuff to go through as well, but I can say that with real friends and some professional help, it DOES get better, and it can make you an incredibly empathetic person as an adult. You CAN turn all that bad stuff into something else. I so enhoyed watching this with you two and with all your friends on Patreon. Looking forward to more videos soon! My only concern with Heartstopper is that, with strikes and things, Kit Conner is going to be 6'3" and massive by the time they get round to Season 3!

Claire Donovan

I think Charlie realised that his fantasy of the perfect prom was more about how other perceived him and Nick, but he came to realise his love for Nick, and Nick's for him doeasn't need to be validated by others and he just wants to mark this special night with those who have been his support group through all the shit, it was the right thing for him

steve johnson

I’m off from work this week so immediately dived on when I saw the notification. I’ve been so eager to see you react to this episode and it didn’t disappoint. Obviously the final scene is the MVP of this episode (I thought Kit & Joe both did a fantastic job) but there were a couple of other thoughts I had as I watched again with you. In S01 we only really see supportive parents (Nick’s Mum, Tao’s Mum, Charlie’s Dad). One of the things I think S02 did really well is to expand the representation of parenting, from the disinterested (Nick’s Dad) through the earnestly protective (Charlie’s Mum) to the disapproving/ aggressively antagonistic (Darcy’s Mum aka. Satan, and Ben’s parents). All very real & relatable. HS loves it’s parallels and I think it’s interesting, in the case of the last two, how differently Darcy & Ben have responded to their parents. I love how they’ve developed Tao this season - in particular, his journey with Nick. In Paris he’s still instinctively resistant to Nick - initially snappy when Nick asks him about Elle before deciding to open up a little. In this ep he’s able to share a deeply personal experience with Nick and it’s quite lovely. I also love how Nick is able to express his worries about Charlie to Tao without breaking any confidences. And, lastly, it’s rather low-key but I absolutely adore Nick & Tara’s relationship. You mentioned the parallels between those two couples. However it’s the little moments between the two of them that are so lovely. Tara was such a great support to Nick throughout S01, candidly sharing her feelings & experiences that really helped him at the beginning of his journey. In this ep, the moment between the two at Prom when Tara confides she is worried about Darcy and Nick is able to support her was so lovely to me. I’m not sure how I can survive until the next season of HS but I’m glad I now have your channel (and the great community here & on the discord) to support & entertain each other through the long wait.

Graham Turner

Beautiful emotional episode

BexFangirl

I really liked that they didn't rush to try to solve the storyline revolving around Charlie's eating disorder in this season, that wouldn't have been realistic (and it would have been especially harmful if they had framed it as "Nick is such an amazing boyfriend he's cured Charlie in 2 months of dating him!"). Instead we get this very touching conversation between the two of them at the end of the finale to give it a bit of closure for now as we wait for season 3, and foreshadowing how season 3 will delve deeper in Charlie's struggles with mental health & in Nick trying to support him in his journey while knowing he's not a therapist & that it's not his place to "fix" him.

Mikel

On the balcony in Paris Nick comments that they always seem to be escaping parties to hang out together...it's definitely a thing they do!

Berni Sweeney

Thank u so much for ur reaction bro this beautiful series I can't wait to see ur reaction to many others. Thank for all the laughs and smiles I have while watching u guys ❤️

Sarah Pocock

In relation to your chat at the end, about whether to feel happy or sad. Take some advice from Nick - "you don't always have to understand your feelings, just feel". The moral of this series, and the finale especially, is: nothing is perfect, but that's OK

Tom Bendall

Thank you for giving us your reaction to this gorgeous episode. It took my breath away too when I first saw it. Mostly I cried for charlie as he's walking away, feeling so loved and seen and cared for. Maybe for the first time in his life. And then I was just blown away by the two of them and their acting. Apparently that whole scene in the bedroom took them about 7 hours to shoot. Their ability to show emotion without it being over dramatised like a lot of shows, is just a testament to how talented they are and how much they trust one another. Would really love you guys to do a bit of a wrap up of the season when you've had time to process. But either way, thank you and roll on s3.

Sue Porter

I was really hoping they would get a Wasia Project song into the show. That is so good. And also boys, the prom band was Baby Queen. So yeah, they play good.

Steve Marshall

was going to start by saying it was Baby queen at the prom but that seems to have been covered. Tori in the comics is the same age and in the same year as Nick, Darcy, Elle and Tara and only 1 year older than Charlie. Basically Nick and Charlie are just massive introverts and any time they are at a party surrounded by people they want to be somewhere else completely. I think Charlie thought about how much he wanted to arrive with Nick and show off his boyfriend but didn't think through the rest of the evening and after about an hour was just done. Darcy’s mum is a homophobe and trash mother and what parent is ok with their teenaged daughter out all night and not knowing where she is. Anything could have happened to her and she just didn’t care. The neglect and abuse is pretty bad when you hit that stage. I am hoping that Tara took her home and they talked to Tara’s parents about it. Charlie’s mum can be difficult but I don’t think there is ever a question of whether she loves her kids whereas Darcy’s mum definitely does not love Darcy in any meaningful way.

Rosie Dickinson

Thank god you got to see that. Finally. I have been so looking forward to you seeing this. Those boys have moved so far from season 1. And their acting is exceptional. Such a great season. Bring on season 3!!!!

Steve Marshall

Ugh, I needed this today after a very crappy morning! Can’t wait to watch ❤️

Rosie Carlisle

whew!! watching this the first time was emotional enough - watching you watch it was just... so many emotions! One thing I really liked about this episode was the way Darcy's storyline and her relationship with her mum/parents is a direct contrast to Ben and what he said in the previous episode. He says his parents would never accept him and while that may be true, he uses that as an excuse to justify his actions and his treatment and assault of Charlie - bearing in mind that we saw them show up for him at the parent's night and they were obviously proud of his school achievements - whereas Darcy's mum is so openly hostile towards her own daughter, makes comments about her looking like a lesbian and mocking her clothing, her behaviour and, it seems, just who she is and doesn't even care that she was missing for a day and yet Darcy never turns that on others. Because even though, yes, they are still kids/teenagers they are old enough to understand the effect their words and actions can have on others and to take responsibility for their own behaviour. And this contrast really shows that just because you experience something doesn't mean you have to then in turn act a certain way. And I don't think it's only Ben's internalised homophobia at this point, his treatment of Imogen and even his season 1 gf who is also cheating on with Charlie show a blatant disregard for other people, even Imogen who is meant to be one of his oldest and closest friends he treats like absolute dirt. Anyway! I love watching your videos, I can't wait to see what you react to next!!

Elspeth Clarke

"They couldn't afford a band" THAT'S BABY QUEEN YOU PHILISTINE

Mildred Locke

You guys are so wonderful! As a 35 straight married (to a man) woman from israel (and yet Obsessed with heartstopper – not really the specific Target Audience) It was really fun, so funny but also so interesting to watch this amazing show through your eyes and listen to what you have to say about it. This show is so important but also what you are doing is very much important. Cant wait to watch season 3 with you guys (and other content too (: ) Please keep doing this wonderful job!

Shahaf Hoffman

I was so reluctant to press play on this reaction because it felt the same as pressing play on the last Heartstopper episode. You know it's going to be so good and you don't want it to end. My favourite thing about you two is how when Alex starts to become too emotional, Josh injects some levity to almost soothe Alex. I love your relationship, you genuinely enjoy each other's company. You mirror the friendships in Heartstopper.

Dionne Lakey

A perfect reaction to a perfect episode. I really love the house party scene after Darcy's reveal and the Taylor Swift song Seven that is a great embodiment of Tara and Darcy's relationship - it's one of my favourite scenes in the show (after all the heartfelt and perfect one to one conversations). It really captures the feeling of family, community and safety for Darcy and everyone in the group. The warm welcoming lighting, hugs, laughter, alcohol games, dancing - a perfect Darcy night in fact! Compare and contrast this to Tara's birthday party with the traditional tropes of truth/dare, uncomfortable PDA, over-indulgent drinking and forced fun. Even Charlie, Nick and Isaac having to escape their own friend's party for a break. Nick's house party is genuine.

Love this reaction, I knew it would evoke that sort of empathetic reaction. Also the last song of the show, when Charlie is leaving is by a group called Wasia Project, which is William Gao and his Sister Olivia Hardy and was such a great song to end on.

So I have been waiting to see how you would both react to this episode since Aug 3. The quiet and intensity you both exhibited was not only perfect but astounding. In the episode at the table when they are talking about the eating thing, I noticed Charlie pinch or press into his right arm as Nick was asking him about his eating and Char was figuring out how to tell him. This Season has been such a wonderful experience and Josh saying it was deeper than Season 1 is I think the best way of putting it. So many aspects of life by such a wonderful group of people. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences as well it has been wonderful to watch you both.

this episode was a lot! but i kind of love when you both get so engrossed in it that you can't speak, it just shows what an amazing show it is and how incredible the cast is. thanks so much for this series, i have laughed and cried along with you 😊 also, in case you don't know, the singer at the prom is baby queen, a lot of her songs have featured in the show and she wrote colours of you for nick and charlie. and the song that plays right at the end is by will gao (tao) and his sister - will plays the piano on it.

Watching your reaction while on break at work. Can't wait for your analysis and comments. But this episode broke me so much. Everything about high school bullying came up again, but the way they handled it in this episode just hepled me heal that old wound a little bit.

Fenja Orfgen

‘Her date’s a cello!’ 😂😂😂

David Watt

little fun fact for you guys: the song playing at the end is ‘ur so pretty’ by wasia project - a band with will gao ( who plays tao ) and his sister so happy one of their songs got to be included!!

Olivia

Aw! Your Heartstopper reactions have been so good to watch. Definitely watching this, this evening ☺️

Ali Laura

S2e8 Alice has given such a strong voice to queers everywhere!!!
