Apocalypse Chapter 22
Added 2023-10-16 06:01:14 +0000 UTCSeako and Hina were luckily with me on the test site so we could rush in together as I whispered to them. "We can share points or the glory of the robot kills. This doesn't need to be a competition." Even as I said that, I knew that this was a test for true heroic inclinations and the willingness the would-be students would have in trying to be a hero.
Even in the face of grave harm coming for them, they stood up to become a hero.
Both girls nodded while several students around us who heard my words scoffed but I could see a couple were looking around in introspection as they seemingly came to the realization that teaming up wasn't something 'unheroic' and Present Mic literally said if we wanted to fight the stronger robots we should be a team lest we get the shit kicked out of us.
After a couple of minutes later though, as the rest of the girls got finished getting changed into their Kevlar-lined uniform for the test. Present Mic got on a stand to talk to us all. "Alright kiddies!" He spoke out loudly making my face twitch at how damned loud his natural voice was.
"You guys know about the robots you guys are going to face... So get going and fight then now!" He shouted and then without a countdown or anything, he jumped off his stand and began sipping very fucking loudly from a juice box as everyone in the large crowd of hopeful students froze in confusion at his abrupt start.
I coughed and with a poke to Hina and Seako I strode forward out with them out of the crowd of would-be students and it was only when we got a good dozen or so meters into the city that the crowd roared and the students charged into the city to find the robots.
"Haha die you robot extras!" I heard a mad cackle and I looked up into the sky to see what could only be Bakugo flying using his explosions that were going off his bare feet and with his hands out wards he was sending wide large explosions into the city like he was dropping motars into the city.
"Dumbass," I muttered with my eye twitching at the madly cackling teenager who used the time when the students weren't in school yet. To just bomb a chunk of the city into rubble.
The teachers watching this test were going to mark him as a highly unstable element... And in this world, such elements could be silenced in the middle of the night by the government-sponsored Quirk using cleaners.
"Do we really need to keep him alive Jake?" Seako asked under her breath as we jogged deeper into the city and I shook my head. We only needed to keep half of Class A alive supposedly... If Mr. MurderDeathKill killed himself then I won't mourn his loss.
But my thoughts were cut off as a loud clicking noise rang out and with my instincts screaming at me I called upon my Chakra and stomped my foot on the ground forming a wall of asphalt that got pushed up by the wall of earth beneath it as a scream of loud gunfire rang out with chips of the road I pulled up getting torn apart.
In the week of sitting in my bunker, we didn't just sit around watching MHA. We had done a great deal of practice with elemental ninjutsu and likewise with Seako she picked up several jutsu and had one major trick.
See I could pick up literally any power system with my perks. But the issue was that I couldn't just use whatever magic or abilities I wanted as I was very much restricted in how I had to translate my magical energy into whatever supernatural systems energy methods.
But there were around. As Saeko clapped her gloved hands together creating sparks of lightning everywhere, she slapped the ground and it hollowed inwards as she pulled out a steel sword out from the ground as her gloves had Full Metal Alchemist style alchemy glyphs sowed into the gloves by Yuriko who was a good seamstress apparently.
While Seako used a replacement jutsu to teleport behind the two-plus-meter tall robot that was armed with a minigun and several punching and club-like implants, Hina and I combined out chakra to send the meter-thick wall of earth into the robot, and as its engines whirled to life to avoid the blow, Seako struck with her conjured sword slamming through the tracks of the machine before she used the same jutsu to teleport back into position next to us as the large wall of stone smashed into the robot crushing it.
"This test is definitely for people either with too much firepower or powerful quirks in general... Or people smart enough to cover their weaknesses using teams." I muttered.
Hina patted my shoulder then called out jokingly. "That was a tier three. Its armor wasn't that big of a deal... I am kinda worried about the hunter tier five ones though." She finished with a small frown as Saeko used her alchemy to conjure another sword from the ground.
This time though she channeled lightning that arced across the slightly serrated sword before she said softly. "We will be fine."
And that was it. Seako was a lot more confident and taciturn so I didn't expect some grand speech. But either way, I shook my head and without another word continued on.
We quickly came across more robots. The tier-one robots were nothing worth mentioning at all as we could punch their metal frames apart. And I do mean that quite literally as the metal used in their construction cracked apart under a good blow rather than bend in the slightest.
Tier twos were a bit more of an issue with them having rubber bullets and other things but we could use low-ranked jutsu to easily deal with them or Seako would cut them in half via a sword strike.
It was only the tier three's and their plainly almost lethal weaponry aimed at our joints and non-vital areas that were an issue. Seako could basically literally teleport with her mastery of the substitution jutsu that she had mono focused on.
While I had likewise used my aura to tank a couple of bullets so I could slap a lightning-filled palm into robots to short them out while Hina used wind blades and such to fight from a distance.
But as we finished taking care of another tier four robot we found with its back turned allowing us to easily kill it with a lightning bolt. I felt the surroundings go quiet.
A loud clinking noise broke the sudden silence and from an alleyway came a robot. A bipedal robot with wrist-mounted blades and thick spring-loaded legs that both pulsed with an otherworldly light. A tier five robot.
One that was being directly controlled by the UA personnel who had the nanomachine control Quirk.
For a long second we just stared at one another before my hands twitched upwards as I drew upon my inherited knowledge and with a poof of smoke I halved my chakra twice to summon two shadow clones through the deep smoke I created using too much chakra.
But as my two clones rushed own each sending a wind blade from their mouths I still in the smoke screen made a couple more hand signs as Saeko once again replaced herself with an object near the robot to begin slashing at the robot with her sword, but the nanomachine enhanced robot was able to meet her lightning and wind imbued sword while still being agile enough to dodge and block the wind blades and rocks that Hina sent at it via her own jutsu's.
In a couple of seconds I had in thick smoke coverage I performed all the hand signs I needed to quickly mold my spiritual and physical energies into lightning chakra and a scream of chattering lightning rang out as my hand filled with a ball of lightning and the robot's spider-like eyes snapped to my form that blurred forward with my hand carving a line through the ground as I used a Chidori.
My vision blurred as I filled my form with Aura and Chakra to enhance my speed to its utmost and within not even a second I crossed the dozen and a half meters and my hand filled with lightning instantly burnt through the metal claws that aimed to lop off my Chidori carrying arm with my attack going through the machine's head leaving a molten hole of slagged metal that I quickly pulled my arm away from as the machine went limp.
"That should be a good bit of points," Hina said cheerfully as I shook off the sting in my hands as I didn't channel the lightning that well, which was just another form of proof that my powers weren't omnipotent... I could easily fuck them up and end up hurting myself.
But as though Murphy laughing at her, a rumble rang out through the city and in the distance, a massive form climbed to its full height even taller than the surrounding high-rise buildings that were on average a good five to ten stories tall.
A literal kaiju-sized robot, clad in thick metal armor, and I could literally see light shimmering off it in obvious repeated waves... Which meant...
"They seriously gave a fucking kaiju robot a force field... But why?!" I demanded and I swear I could hear cackling in the distance. Though in the distance I could clearly hear screams ringing out as people who were near the robot, were running for their lives as the robot roared and actually sent exploding missiles off its spine-filled back that exploded into what looked like quick hardening foam or something.
