OUR FLAG MEANS DEATH S2 E4 - UNCUT

Comments

also sorry, minnie driver saying 'everything must go' like her arson is a fucking blowout sale is SO FUNNY

I love the fact that Buttons purposefully explained the gravy basket to Stede and convinced him to go to the island too, like he knew the "love requires change" applied to them both and that Stede needed to begin by following Ed this time, instead of running scared.

b

I think that Ed saying "people don't change" was referring to both him and Stede, reflecting on that as he once again waited while Stede ran off alone. Stede coming back and asking to solve a problem together signalled that he might be changing and Ed took that as a sign that he could go forward differently as well.

b

Amish vibes, Josh. A Barn Worth Raising

b

“A studio worth recording” lol

I would help with shed/studio building, I'm a good helper of flat pack furniture building if that counts 😆 The lesbians were brilliant and I'm glad I'm not the only one who states a character an actor has played when recognising them in something else. Headmistress! 😂

Ali Laura

This is either my favorite or second favorite of the entire series. All of it works. The post break up bickering. The lesbians waking up and choosing violence both against each other and Ed & Stede. (wlw and mlm solidarity? Nay! Anne and Mary said wlw on mlm violence!) Izzy becoming the new unicorn. Stede not knowing what a "handy" is. Buttons turning into a bird. What an episode!!

So, one of my favorite sight gags in this episode is with the sandwich. Roach offers the sandwich to Ed, Ed knocks it out of Roach’s hand then Stede catches it and says “don’t you want your sammie??” Ed’s wordless reply is to yet again knock the sandwich away and it ends up hitting Lucius in the head 😂. Comic gold!! I think the actor broke character and laughed because he wasn’t expecting to get hit by it! They pulled this same stunt in last season’s Art of F**kery episode when Izzy loses the dual and is standing in the dingy about to leave when Roach tosses a sandwich down to him and it hits Izzy in the head!! I love these little comic details so much 🤣.

I think that the unhinged lesbian pirates are meant to be Anne Bonny and Mary Read. Two real life pirates who had a relationship with Calico Jack Rackham. All three were captured together in 1720, Jack was executed, Mary died in 1721 probably from complications during childbirth and Anne disappeared from the records. I love that they included actual historical female pirates in the show.

I will bring sausage rolls for the shed build …..

One thing I have learned by now is not to eat anything when I watch OFMD :D

Guys, give me time to get a Passport and I’ll be there to help build the shed. I don’t do well with ladders but I’m good at handing supplies up to someone on a ladder. Plus I’m good at reading directions. Don’t know anything about blueprints but directions I’m great with.

Listen, I'd be down to build a shed no matter how mildly cult-likenit sounds, if I believed i could be any help. I'm afraid giving me a hammer or any kind of impact tool will be more of a liability to both environment and humanity at large. I'm a great barista though! So willing to offer my services in that way if it helps 😅

This was such a fun episode to watch, both when I originally watched it, and again, now, with you lads. I totally agree, Alex, I would love to watch a lesbian pirate spinoff! It would be complete chaos! Of course, the scene where Stede was telling Ed everything he loved about him reminded me of the final episode of Heartstopper where Nick told Charlie everything he loved about him. Both being interrupted just before they could say "I love you".

Chris Metzger

This is about the time Izzy goes from my most hated character to my favorite. I love what crew did for him even though he was so horrible to them.

Sam

Listen, barn (shed/studio) raisings are a thing. I'll be there. I love this episode for the post-breakup bickering and earnest declarations, as well as the throughline of change being both possible and necessary at some points in your life. Will add this here for anyone interested in how they created the mermaid scene last episode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNtHdNucidg

I think Steed had time to sort out his feelings, and why he panicked, while he was back with his wife and when he was looking for Ed. Of course he wants to go back to being a couple. Didn't you listen to his letters in the bottles? 🙂

Michaela Morávková

Josh, I would love to help build a shed! If I had manual labour skills...and I lived on your side of the world! 😅😅 Another great video, I hope you get some good feedback! I just enjoy seeing you two chat away, it makes my day alittle brighter! Love yas ❤️

Nikki Hearn

Nice! I've been a guard (don't know the correct English term for this) at written exams at the local sixth form college. It'll be nice to have this to unwind to tonight!! ☠️❤️

Good Morning, this will be fun to watch when I get home from my errands. Being in stores on the day before Thanksgiving can be kind of crazy.
