Interview with the Vampire E4 - Uncut

In the book, Claudia is 5!

Nomi Saxton

Has sunlight ever seemed scarier? I remember getting so tense the first time I saw Claudia pull the lever. I still got quite tense this time too.

AnLoingseach

Lestat is very jealous of Claudia because you are right, he very much wants Louis to himself. You'll find that out in later episodes, it gets a lot worse. He also wanted to make her into what Louis has never embraced, I think, which is being a brutal killer and extravagant like he is. Louis just wanted redemption and someone to love because he has always been lonely and depressed and that didn't go away once he was made a vampire like Lestat thought it would. It's all very effed up, lol. Get ready for episodes 5, 6, and 7. They're crazy!! Buckle up! I also liked how they explained how love between two people of the same sex works. That's all you need to say really and it's super sad that some people can't even grasp that these days.

Jamie

Great reaction, as always. Lestat is absolutely vile. Ferociously jealous of Claudia, I think he set out to make her as bratty as possible, in the hope Louis would tire of her quickly. I know I did! But making her watch as her first love/ crush burned was spectacularly shitty. I get it, that she's gone through all this trauma when she was alive, then the realisation that she'll be a child, a child too young for sexual relationships, forever, even as her mind matures and she craves that kind of experience, then she kills her first lover, but Christ she's a pain in the bum! And don't even get me started on her accent!

Jacqueline Hahn

I love this one because they're such gay dads in it. "it's chiffon, it has movement." I'll be back tomorrow when I can watch it. :)

Jamie

I haven't read the books or anything but I think Lestat doesn't have a drop of humanity left in him so he was excited to teach Claudia how to become a "proper vampire" (a killer basically) because that is something Louis has repeatedly refused to become. With that said, Lestat can really be cruel, and that red flag count is not going to stop. Anyways, Bailey Bass was phenomenal as Claudia, her performance in this show really blew me away.

Here's a revised version: I keep hearing the term 'Doctking,' but I'm not sure what it means. In Austria, the term is a bit more explicit.

Great reaction! ☺️

Soraya

I think your reactions are so great. Not everyone can pinpoint abusive behavior and label it as fast. This show is tough and I do think is a show to receive criticism around the idea of "Good queer representation?" Either way, your reactions help discuss the real themes of abuse in the show alongside the queer representation critically. I don't feel definitive one way or another in my critiqe. Love watching you both!

Rachel

A chateau of thanx for your reaction! You've got a big storm coming in the next ep, guys. But Miss Anne Rice is worth it! P.S. These vampires are real tricksters, so don't believe everything you will see or hear.

Lisa Alex

OMG SO GLAD you guys posted episode 4! CANNOT WAIT for episode 5! PLEASE keep them coming! Also I'll just say like I did In the last reaction, Claudia in the books was actually physically 5 due to Anne Rice's daughter being 5 when she passed away. The character was written as a catharsis for Anne.

ChrisNThings

Children of gays are often spoiled rotten. Add in a vampire element, and that they'll never grow up, and you get Claudia. That's the biggest nightmare of this entire series!!

Chris Metzger

Awesome. I've just been at a wedding, this is a great way to end the night!!

Chris Mackenzie

Thank you! 😘 Out Christmas shopping over the border in Sweden today so nice to have something to look forward to this evening!!
