YOUNG ROYALS S3 E3 - UNCUT

Comments

I know that I’m late to this one haha BUT I had to comment about the Ben/August comparison … yes, they both did very, VERY bad things BUT the big difference that I see between the two is that August released the tape when he was mad at Willie and thought that Willie didn’t care and he had nothing to lose. In his eyes, Willie humiliated him in front of all these people that he cares about their opinion. Taking the video was bad, not deleting was bad, what was horrible in my eyes was releasing the video. Ben on the other hand was an asshole to Charlie and inflicted horrible emotional damage to him when Charlie showed nothing but love and care towards him. He wasn’t responding to Charlie doing something bad to him - one can make a case that Ben might have blamed Charlie for what was happening due to his internal homophobia but no one knew what was happening between them, he ignored Charlie and even participated in making fun of him in front of others. To me Ben is so much worst then August

Laura Ibarra

„I mean, that’s so nice.“ - love that reaction. So pure to a wholesome lovescene.

Monti Munchi

Unfortunately I have to briefly defend August here. He's not like Ben. Ben is consistently mean to Charlie on so many levels. And he even physically attacks him. August was never like that towards Sara. The fact that he leaked the video was an act of revenge because Wille had exposed him, and he was envious and bitter, everything. But even Edvin said in an interview that he can understand a bit why he did it. Ben is exclusively toxic and treats everyone (including Imogen!) poorly because he hates himself. There is absolutely nothing good about him.

Monti Munchi

Not really. August says he doesn't want to be the reason Sara ruins her future. He's thinking about HER life here. Not to mention, he sold art from his inheritance to buy Rousseau (he didn't touch it for his debt). It’s completely different.

Monti Munchi

I love you guys!😂😅🙏✨

Ulrika_F

Honestly I just get more frustrated at these characters as it goes on

Hannah Howden

This season is really uncomfortable because I feel like I’m watching the beginning of a power differential between Wille and Simon. The way Wille puts himself first in some situations. It feels like the seeds are being laid. In previous seasons they both seemed more like students on a level playing field. However, with Wille getting ready to go to Crown Prince School it seems he is unconsciously buying into the whole power differential the rest of the Royal Court has.

Bananies

I’m really glad after they discussed the possibility of prequels that Josh took it back. Having an origin story about Erik or the Queen, no thank you.

Bananies

Yes, please, after the finale..🙏

Ruth May

Vincent the Vile! Very true, he is such an a$$

Jera Hanson

Yes they did, Ruth and I always agree with you.

Dennis Verner

The adults in this show are just not cutting it except for Linda. She is doing the best she can with a situation she never expected. She is not a great disciplinarian but it is completely understandable that she is struggling. The Court should have immediatly talked to Simon about what was expected of him and how to deal with everything that is happening whether or not WIlhelm wanted them to.

Rosie Dickinson

But everything August says starts with I. Both of them were scincere in their apologies but both apologies were about themselves. How the other person made them feel, listened to them, etc. It started out good but ended up self serving

Rosie Dickinson

It's very heart warming that young women writers are producing these stories for us

Gina Lipkin

Thank you, I read this revealing and insightful article interviewing the creator of YR, highly recommend it

Gina Lipkin

These two young actors Edvin and Omar have plans to continue working together after YR finishes, exciting plans ahead

Gina Lipkin

Your fan has got bigger, lol, cool down time for hot boys, lol

Gina Lipkin

The external forces that are causing the problems for them, no real chances to live normally and free to be themselves

Gina Lipkin

Thank you once again, the light of my day to watch your YR reaction! Could you also pls react to the documentary? Preferably directly after ep6 (for best effect)? Would be amazing!!

Hanna

I'm with Alex on this one love raw cake batter. I loved this episode hope everyone is surviving the rewatch of all the episodes

indigo

I was living for their make out session in the music room. Cause after all what happened in there, that room needed a redemption 😆 Also, that intimate scene 🫠🫠🫠 my gawd….. so beautifully and authentically shot. Edvin and Omar really have the talent to make us believe they’re in love for real. 😍

Frances

Are you going to react to the Young Royals Documentary after this season?☺️

Kia K

The "sailor hat" is the traditional graduation cap for High School in Denmark, Sweden and probably Norway (we are like triplets after all LOL).

IAmom

This is probably my favourite episode of s.3 apart from the finale. It has a bit of everything. It shows just how far the boys have come in their relationship, but also that they're both struggling with it because of the opinions of other people. Simon is understandably upset by the abuse he's getting online, and the snide shit he's getting from Vincent the Vile at school, while Wille is struggling with having to "control" Simon, and essentially crush all of those things about him that he fell in love with in the 1st place, his music, his sassy attitude and his big rebellious streak. We get an idea of just how badly the queen has been affected by everything that's happened over the last 6 months or so, and how hard Wille is having to try to step up for her, to do his "duty" and how anxious that makes him. We see Linda's concern at watching her son being made increasingly miserable by his relationship, and what the consequences of that relationship have done to her family. It's great to see Sara and her dad get time together, to hear him explain what went wrong, and give Sara some really solid advice. And August...I really am enjoying his arc this season. He's trying very, very hard to become more of the person he was when he was with Sara, without her. I think he is actually a fundamentally good person who makes bad choices. He's had a pretty tough life, losing a father he seems to have hero-worshipped to suicide at a young age, a fairly ropey relationship with his stepdad, a rather distant one with his mum. He seems to have gotten on well with Erik, but they were only at school together for a year, & 2 years later Erik's dead. August really doesn't seem to have had any caring, guiding figure close in his life on any permanent basis. The only things that have given him any kind of stability are the monarchy and the school. No wonder he's made some truly terrible decisions, which I think he honestly deeply regrets, and is desperate to make amends for.

Jacqueline Hahn

10/10 WORK 🤣🤣 lol I love it. I also agree with others though. Go back and watch it again and enjoy it. Such a stunning scene.

Cathy Mills

Exactly right as usual, Dennis, but at least the guys actually appreciated the scene. See my previous comment. I don’t understand how anyone could fail to be in awe of the beauty of this scene.

Ruth May

That was my thought as well and seems in line with Wille's personality. He hates having to have those conversations with Simon but thinks it would be worse coming from a random Palace PR person.

AK

agree with you 100%. it's easy for us to sit back and criticise and analyse their actions - but we've been through those times / life experiences and learnt from them (hopefully). everyone forgets that at that age.. you are making mistakes, arent great at communicating. the sad thing about the comments towards edvin (wille) and omar (simon) were that they were coming from "fans" of the show who were wanting to involve themselves in the actors personal lives, speculating about sexuality, relationships when it's no ones business but theirs. you would have hoped "fans" learnt from the messages and issues addressed in the series.

LM-Entertainment Australia

😮😮😮😮😮😮😮 NEW MERCH FAN?!?!?!? please. please. please. Anywho, I love watching you 2 react to this! I'm so keen to see you watch the rest. I was on the edge of my seat the whole season! 🫣🤯🫠

Nikki Hearn

Regarding Simon not getting proper media training / having Wille be the go-between, I did catch a line at the end of the episode when Wille calls Fatima back and she says "You have to talk to him. Or else we will." So while I agree Simon should definitely have had some media training from the get-go, and it initially bothered me as a big plot hole, that line makes me think that it is actually Wille who didn't want the palace speaking to Simon directly, thinking it may be better coming from him. What are your thoughts?

cperez97

Horrible that the cast were subjected to this. But not surprising😟

MIchelle Arbery

I thought the same thing. Watch in silence.

MIchelle Arbery

I think what upsets me the most about this season (especially this episode) the queen is being given the space, resources and support when she’s breaking down and grieving but in previous seasons Willie was not given any of that and really just told to basically suck it up and step up. It’s so unfair…

Kelsey

I feel like I can say this for every episode, but omg, I love your reactions so much! And you are so right, it is incredibly stressful. Even the good scenes I was cringing behind my hands just waiting for something terrible to happen. Yikes!

Chelsea

I'm a irritated by the queen unloading her problems on Wille, when no one in is family helped him when Eric died. Of course she mourns as well, but we never really seen her being the mum to a 16 year old teenager. Maybe the only time, when she insisted on him going to therapy.

Mel Baker

Men do run hotter than women. Because they tend to have more muscle mass, they generate more body heat. The more you know! Also a fun fact, offices are so cold because they were designed to be a suitable temperature for men in suits.

Cole

and my beauty sleep after a very long week went to hell ;) but the hell was a lot of fun (and fan). I have so many comments... 1. it was very strange for me to hear so many deep talks in this season. from my perspective it is the main difference in storytelling 2. what is very simmilar between ben and august is that they both are fucking disgusting characters played by the sweetest people on earth 3. the intimate scene deserves an award. it's so beautiful, hot and real at the same time, i'm in awe. and your reaction was pure gold (I still like the first season scenes best for many reasons, but this one was wondreful) 4. WTF about sleeping in tents with guys??? tents are cold as hell. guys are not warmer than girls ( thou they might be hotter, that's true), and hot flushes don't apply to highschoolers. 🤣 I also admire how attentive you are. so many details i missed and you spotted (like anti high class banner). so, in conclusion: i've missed my window for sleeping this month, but i'm also very grateful about it. 💜

karolina tersa

You guys know that I love you so I won't be critical, I'll just say you have witnessed probably the most beautiful, romantic love making scene ever. Better than Call Me By Your Name, better than RWaRB. Beautifully choreographed and filmed to "Uti var hage" the traditional Swedish spring song celebrating life and renewal. Please go back and sit quietly and watch it again and breathe it in.

Dennis Verner

I really appreciate that they did this, even though I imagine it was very difficult for them to relive some of the comments. People have been (and continue to be) absolutely vile to these young actors, and I commend them for being so brave for not only their performances in bringing these important stories to life, but also their bravery in sharing their own personal journeys, even when they didn’t choose to.

Charlie

This was exactly my thought. It seems completely absurd to expect two teenagers to navigate their way through a very public relationship, especially one that’s already heavily embroiled in scandal thanks to the leaked video. I think they very much have always left Willhelm to his own devices since he was young because Erik was the Crown Prince and the favored son, so he got all the attention and resources. I think there’s definitely people in the court who always wanted Willhelm to fail, at being Crown Prince, at this relationship succeeding, all of it. There’s absolutely no reason that there wouldn’t at least be one PR staff member assigned to sit down with Willhelm and Simon to discuss how to proceed after the tape’s release, and especially after determining they would be together as a couple in public.

Charlie

This is the second time that we see Simon feeling that his music is being taken from him. In season 2, his version of the school song is suppressed by Jan-Olaf in favour of the traditional version and no-one except Felice explains why. When Wille asks Jan-Olaf to explain why Simon wasn’t allowed to sing his version, he is evasive and then Wille and Simon have a confrontation over it in the music room and Simon tells Wille that the Royal Court don’t want him to be associated with Wille. Simon is literally losing his voice in this season, saying that singing isn’t fun any more. You don’t hear his voice above the other voices in the capping out ceremony. He tells Wille in that season 2 episode, ‘They’re taking away the one thing I love and am good at’. A couple of other things: love your response to the intimate scene in the hallway and in Wille’s room. (Btw, you can just get a glimpse of closed, blue curtains!) and I was really surprised by another reactor describing it in an embarrassed sort of way as ‘porn’ and yet another was complaining that they should have been having a deep, meaningful conversation instead of ‘making out’. Their love language is always touch and it seems to me that they’re saying everything they need to communicate with each other here without needing any words. Sure, they need to talk and Simon deserves to be properly informed about what he can and can’t do in terms of social media, but that should have already happened and it certainly wasn’t what they needed just then. The other point is that I just love that you both love Young Royals. I haven’t seen you looking this tense for ages! ❤️👑❤️

Ruth May

Spoilers for the whole of season 3 This Teen Vogue article: https://www.teenvogue.com/story/young-royals-creator-lisa-ambjorn-tells-all-final-season-interview

Dionne Lakey

According to Lisa, some of the comments Simon receives were actually posted to parts of the cast over the course of the series... Many people keep calling for in-depth conversations between the two, but you should remember that these are two 16 year olds. Who has deep conversations at this age? Furthermore, Wilhelm has no experience with honest and deep communication with others...But at least it is now certain that the Eriksson siblings both enjoy riding :P

miniadler

Do you know what interview it was?

Jera Hanson

Ahh OK, I stand corrected!

Dionne Lakey

Lisa Ambjörn, the shows head writer said in an interview this week that the hate comments that Simon receives were lifted from the comments Edvin and Omar were receiving speculating about their private lives. I can imagine that acting out Simon's storyline us very close to home for Omar. Sort of like Kit Connor acting out his coming out experience in season 2 of Heartstopper after being forcibly outed online. The young stars of HS and YR have had to deal with the realisation that the stories they are telling are so necessary in today's world.

Dionne Lakey

She says he has “udgangsforbud” (spelled in Danish but it’s the same word) that isn’t the same as curfew. I see it more as being grounded. But I guess it’s whatever you make of it.

IAmom

did you tape a face of your smiley pillow?

karolina tersa

Oh and I worry that while all the romance and intimacy that Wille and Simon have is lovely between them (the actors' chemistry is great), is it just papering over the cracks? Because any attempt to have a deeper conversation, usually started by Simon, just goes nowhere and Simon is kind of shrinking in on himself.

AT

Omar has said that the “inspiration” for the cyberbullying came from his own life 💔

IAmom

Is August vicious? He literally secretly filmed and disseminated Simon and Wilhelm having sex (literal child porn) as revenge for Wilhelm outing that August didn't have the money to stay in school. I'd say that's pretty fucking vicious. Ben is nothing compared to August. This whole situation is terrible for everyone.

Mandi Mateer

Also, Team Alex on the licking the bowl thing! And Team redemption arc...I love the conversations sparked by August's storyline. (And I'm also gutted they cut Ben from Heartstopper - don't worry, I'll see myself out when I'm done! He wasn't given the air time to go on a journey like August has but he could have. They are both coming from an absolutely abysmal act of basically criminal behaviour.)

AT

Laughed so hard when Alex gave Simon and Wilhelm 10 out of 10 during their intimate moment 😂. Beautiful shot scen though 💜💙. I agree with Josh that it is not nice of the royal court to make Wilhelm tell Simon everytime Simon does something wrong on his social media account. It just strains their relationship. Give Simon media training instead. It’s almost as if the royal court want wilhelm and Simon to fail 😔.

Marstrand

I wonder if the lack of input from the Royal Cout's PR people and security provision might be them lowkey hoping the relationship doesn't work out...actually letting things happen that would make their relationship impossible. Urgh.

AT

Looking good in red Josh! I’m curious about the 🪭👀 Let’s see what the Royals are doing this episode.

Diane Furlong

Did you spot the little kids' Pride pin?

Dionne Lakey

If you can’t cope now your reaction to 4 is going to be splendid

Amanda Balser

Just received the ping sound, time tomorrow to view, for now it's, walk the dog, wright lifting, VR and dinner, catch up with you asap

Gina Lipkin

Ben never meant well, his apology was piss poor and he never did anything for Charlie not once. Here at least August asks after Sara's wellbeing and comes to her house to ask her to come back to school for her sake. I could never see Ben Hope being as selfless or considerate of Charlie, ever. He was horrified at the thought of going to Charlie's house, emotionally bullied him. August has never done any of that to Sara.

Dionne Lakey

Well...! The notfication popped up just as I'm about to go to bed. I'll have to wait until tomorrow, but hey; this makes tomorrow a good day!! 😊 Thanks 🙏🏻

Stian Kristoffersen

I'd say it's a problem with systemic racism not just the situation that they're in as minorities.

Dionne Lakey

For this being Omar’s first acting job, his facial expressions are so amazing, like he’s been doing this for years! Edvin and Omar have the best chemistry I have ever seen, they could tell a whole story with just their eyes/facial expressions.

Jera Hanson

The real cyberbullying that Simon is experiencing has led to suicides in teenagers for just that type of bullying from their peers. Simon is getting it from a country and the people in the town he lives in. It's incredibly major what he's going through. But it seems to be minimised compared to the immensity of Wille's pressures.

Dionne Lakey

At 12.38 the girls in the choir a playing Simon's new song and ridiculing it as Simon and Wille walk into choir. Simon looks so upset and then we don't hear his voice at all when they start singing. He's not safe online or in real life to sing or write music anymore.

Dionne Lakey

I think at 11.00 Simon's look at Wille is saying, and you're OK with that status quo, the way Wille just so matter or factly says, this is the way it is. I don't think it's about realising what Wille goes through but more that he just accepts it and thinks fighting back is pointless.

Dionne Lakey

Yayyyy 🥳🥳

Alice Bignell

I'm with Josh I'd love it of there was more. But this is the story that creator Lisa Ambjörn envisioned from the start. This was where the story was always heading, to this season's conclusion.

Dionne Lakey

Apparently the English subtitles are off ad what Linda actually says is you have a curfew. She doesn't ground Simon.

Dionne Lakey

I literally was watching e2 again and got this notification! Can’t wait to see your reaction!

Jera Hanson

Was watching ep2 again waiting on this. Can’t wait to see it I also know 4,5,6 are going to be epic from you two

Amanda Balser

Yayyyyyyyyyyyy
