2024-05-25 22:25:51 +0000 UTCCats!!! I am SUCH a cat person. I could never keep up with the neediness of a dog (no shade - I know dogs are super lovable - it's just a lot of energy for me 😅!) I love the fierce combination of intensity and indifference you get from a cat. I love how discerning they are about who to trust - and how loving they are once you've won them over. My two cats are absolutely attached to me at all times but all they require is a warm lap. It's the best 😻😻 But the world needs all kinds and that's why we have dog people and cat people!

Anyway, this discussion reminded me of a book called Jonny Appleseed by Joshua whitehead. Jonny is a cybersex worker and it sort of gives a snapshot of a week of his life. I remember really wanting the character of Jonny to succeed in life and just a lot of compassion in seeing the nitty gritty of sex work day after day. I can’t remember if the character is two spirit, but the author identifies as two spirit and queer. It won the Canada reads competition in 2021, and I just saw that it will become a miniseries :)

A dog is always lovable and happy to see you and they will defend you. Some cats are too, but I just prefer dogs. I agree about sex work. A lot of people are so narrow minded about sex, and to each their own, but grown, consenting people should be able to sleep with who they want in whatever way they want.
