Episode 2, Update #5 *Spoilers*

Salutations!

Not a great deal of new things to talk about this week. Some work has been done on the mini-games and the introduction scene to your first mma class is being worked on. I'm about 50 renders in and have written a lot of dialogue as well. It's coming along rather nicely.

I've fixed a major bug with the save states which unfortunately requires you to start again in the next release. All your saves will become invalid. This should only be a one-off and hopefully never happen again. Good thing it was caught this early in the game but I still have to apologize for it, as it's annoying.

The text speed has also been fixed up. It is now pretty much instant and transitions smoothly into the scene. I have yet to see if I can fix the slow down or speed up slider option. I'm not sure why that option is there by default in a Renpy project, because it doesn't seem to really do anything. I'm sure I could add a multiplier of some sort to the code.

The skybox featured in some of the exterior areas has been fairly ugly looking in the first episode, which I have also fixed.

Attached an image of one of the academy's mma coaches and an image of the campus grounds with fixed skybox.

Have a good week!

Hah! Maybe...

You know what they say... "You'll shoot your eye out!"

I bet its from a genuine Red Ryder BB Rifle

Darn, I completely missed that it was supposed to be tongue-in-cheek! You're right though, I was concerned about perhaps overdoing it a little, hence I took the comment a bit more seriously. Thanks for engaging though, appreciate it!

Thanks for sharing that story to which I can relate to as I had an experience that is not too far from that of your wife. My comment was meant tongue in cheek in the first place as I was looking at the picture and was reminded of the missing eye. I like these stories because, as you say, they open up intersting bits and twists for a character. I'm looking forward to learning more about any of them as the story progresses. Thanks so much for getting back to me.

Scars and other defects often come with interesting stories. I won't tell you any of these fictional characters right now, as that is for you to discover but I can tell you a quick real-life one about my wife's scar on her cheek. When she was about 10 years old, she and her twin often used to play with the neighbour's dog. One day, they were playing catch and as she was holding the ball, bouncing it in her hand, the young dog in all its excitement went for it and bit her right in the cheek. Rather than screaming and being in shock, she said she was more concerned for the dog as it looked at her with extreme sadness, regret and sorrow in its eyes. Like it knew what it had done was very wrong. According to her mom, her face was pretty messed up and later on, she was given the choice for the dog to be put down as it now tasted human blood. She chose not too, as she could tell the dog was very sorry. Sometimes, it's a simple accident that could happen in any kind of environment to anyone.

There are obviously a number of people with severe scars (we already met a girl with a missing eye and now another eye injury and scars on arms) and what-not. What kind of environment do they live in...seems really tough.
