Episode 2, Update #15

Hello,

Not much to report this week as I've been doing mostly scene after scene after scene, tying everything together. There's a lot of variety in the scenes, mainly because of the initial complexity I created.

To give you an idea, here's an example of a single scene and which factors I need to keep in mind, depending on how you've made your choices:

-Joe is your roomie
-Lily is your roomie
-Lily is becoming your friend
-Lily is becoming your lover
-Lily doesn't like you at all

I love this complexity in these type of games, but it requires a lot of delicate work that can easily screw up as it isn't linear. What I see happening in a lot of stories is that if you don't choose a particular path, it literally just cuts that part out and leaves you with nothing, jumping to the next section. I'd like to avoid that as much as possible, so that every which way will give you something.

Now I'm not sure if this episode is becoming very big, or the number of different scenes is just insane, but keeps a single playthrough quite short. I haven't quite got enough in place to do a single complete playthrough, so I don't know as of yet.

Have a good week!

sorry had a pink floyd moment... I think its moving fine Ezy, just do your best to tell your story, every character is going to have branches and as creator you may keep them or let us find a way to fix them or end them

How can you have any pudding if you DONT EAT YOUR MEAT?!?!

You're not wrong. I'll have to be very careful that it doesn't spiral out of control. The example I gave specifically has been present since the first release and must be maintained.

I love what you're doing with this game, but I'd like to share a few friendly words of caution. Branching choices this early on tend to create a ton of work that you'll have to maintain till the end of the game, and that's assuming you won't introduce more of them. I'm not suggesting you change anything - you should stick to your vision, of course. Just keep in mind that this is how scope creep tends to set in :)

Seeing things change based on those variables is a big part of these games and seeing things unfold and character interactions based on what you've done or how you've treated them. It's great that's on your mind as you progress.
