Basically multi shadow clone was a jutsu that was perfect for who naruto was how we attacked and his MASSIVE chakra reserves which u begin to see more and more as series progresses

Transformation is the one kabuto used to save naruto in this episode. Shadow clone jutsu is common and used in different ways EX zabuza watef clone. Narutos multi shadow clone was created by tobirama and then was forbidden and kept secret because of its power. Each clone is like 20-30% of original chakra and we know naruto being an uzamaki and 9 tiles chakra he uses it very well
