Like you, I love to read. Although I do far less of it now because I've taken my writing more seriously. Writing consumes most of my free time. But, I discovered a love for fantasy books when I was twelve and the world changed forever.
I've forgotten most of the books I've read, but a few had such an impact on me that I still think of them fondly. The first fantasy book I ever read was the Hobbit. The first science fiction book I remember reading was a book called Armor. And Armor is why I'm telling you all this.
People ask me where my ideas come from and I honestly don't know. Everything I've read or seen or experienced has been blended together in my brain. It's usually impossible for me to know where an idea is born from.
But I wrote a chapter (you'll get it in a week or two) where I know exactly where the inspiration came from. The idea isn't new, or mind-blowing, or anything like that. But it helped me see clearly some of Ruwen's behaviors. I love writing sessions like that.
I know this is vague. I'll talk about this again when the chapter comes out. But because it affected me pretty strongly this week, I wanted to talk about it. And if you like powered armor, give John Steakley's Armor a try.
I opened up chapters 58 and 59 to Root.
I opened up chapters 60 and 61 to Harvester.
I added chapters 62 and 63 for Step Master, Blapy's Favorite, and Divine.
