Rapturous Release, Combat Demo
Added 2022-01-12 20:35:33 +0000 UTCHowdy! This is a tutorial and test area for the new combat system I've developed this month. It's card-based and I hope it ends up being pretty fun, here are the basic rules:
- 5 cards are drawn on the first turn, 2 are drawn on consecutive turns as long as the total sum of cards in the hand are below 7.
- The player's EP allows them to play multiple cards in a single turn
- Playing some cards in order on your turn causes damage to build up into combos
- Discarding twice allows you to generate an extra EP mid-turn, three times allows you to convert a card into a special card with unique effects!
Past those new rules, the game is just turn-based combat. Attack, block, deal status effects, reduce enemy health to zero. Losing in this version will lead to enemies having their way with the player, winning gives you the same option. Over the course of the game the player will unlock new cards and increase their stats.

Please feel free to give me notes and ideas for how to improve! Before this month I had never done serious programming in unity, so I've come a long way and I hope to go further!
edit-Known bugs:
- Breathe doesn't subtract discards like convert does (dumb on my part)
- The scroll wheel is not disabled (only appears in the app so I didn't notice it before)
- Cards can be played consecutively if you spam them (kinda a feature though? hmm)

Yeah, you use it as a way to squeeze in an extra card play in your turn before the enemy hits you!
