Everybody for wildly different experiences. You have been lucky to not experience much racism. I remember the first time I came to the south, I was maybe 13 or 14. First night there, some guy pulled up in a car beside me and my family and kept saying “ni hao”, and it definitely wasn’t in a friendly way. Since I’ve been hesitant to go back to the south. It was wild to me that somebody would go so far out of their way to harass someone else.

2023-08-06 13:48:09 +0000 UTCIt is not rare, it is there. It's just that with the advent of the internet, people can now report on it more because they have an avenue available to them to do so and hence give a voice to those who experience it. Just because something didn't happen to you doesn't mean it didn't happen to others.

2023-07-28 02:37:52 +0000 UTCDon i think the term African American came from the black community. It was to show they were American while also giving respect to their African heritage.

2023-07-27 13:07:28 +0000 UTCYeah at least for me in 23 years of my life the only racism ive seen is from social media and tv. I didn't grow up in the south but at least on the east coast around Rhoad island people are definitely assholes but rarely anything to do with race.

2023-07-27 02:52:13 +0000 UTCyeah there are still a lot of sundown towns (all white towns) in America even though segregation is no longer enforced, there is also the KKK and other racist groups that usually operate in the south. segregation in America wasn't really that long ago so there is still tons or racist areas pretending they live in the 1950's.

2023-07-26 22:40:52 +0000 UTCAnd I feel that the news definitely shoves racism down everyone’s throats every time there is something. I mean I’m 19 years old living in the south and I’ve never been racially abused by any white man nor treated unequally. It’s a shame that our country gets a bad rep bc of stuff that is honestly very rare. It just doesn’t seem rare bc every little thing is shoved down our throats

2023-07-26 22:11:25 +0000 UTCAs an American the racism in this country is obviously not good. But there’s racism on every country. Take for instance the vini jr thing where he’s just tryna play ball and there’re shouting racial abuse to him. That doesn’t happen in American sports games. And since the civil war happened it was the confederacy(south) wanting to keep slavery and the union(north) fighting to end it. So past wise and even now the south is inherently more racist than the north.

2023-07-26 22:09:52 +0000 UTCOcean and the Sea are the same thing. You’re thinking about salt water Vs. fresh water lakes and rivers that can feed into the ocean but the ocean is an overwhelming majority of salt water.
