Personally, I'd say that if you want to watch "kid's films" that have an adult second reading to them, then the Pixar films are a good recommendation! The latest Disney animated movies have had a deeper meaning to them, but I'd attribute that to the merger between Pixar and Disney as well. Great reaction, mate, cheers!
