So one of the biggest changes between this version and the theatrical release is steppenwolf’s design. It’s much better with this version. Also fun fact, one of Batman’s satellites was destroyed during Superman’s fight with Zod right before the end of it. The plot of this movie is pretty much the plot of the animated one. The same bad guy and the justice league forming for the first time. The man who was Mrs. Kent is Martian Manhunter who is in the animated movies and shows more regularly outside of smallville and supergirl. Which leads me to my recommendation for you to watch smallville. It’s a bit older, 10 seasons so a lot of content, but I think it holds up well to current superhero shows.

if your gonna get into justice league animated series you have to watch the last part of the Batman animated series when the art style changes referred to as The New Batman Adventures as well as Superman the animated series and before finishing Justice league Unlimited you have to watch Batman Beyond to understand the finale

Snyder's cut of JL is one of my favorite DC movies. That said, I think the theatrical cut had better pacing than this longer version which I didn't know was a thing. It didn't add any new favorite scenes from this longer version, and the additional backstory was easily inferred from the shorter version. Loved your reactions!!!
