I could write an entire essay about how terrible and botched I think the show is, but let's not get into that. However, I have to disagree with your take on the CGI. Not because it looks terrible, it obviously looks good. I just think it looks very unnatural.

2024-03-06 04:54:47 +0000 UTCDesign 10/10. Acting 6.5/10. For the overlapping and combining characters’ introductions, I am actually impressed at the aggression to do so. So for effort and result 8/10. For accuracy to the cartoon 5/10. A rewatch was necessary for me to see the show as it is and not as the cartoon. Definitely more enjoyable now, but the lack of water bending makes no sense. Paku is too chill 😂 As much as I like that Yue had more personality, but getting rid of her arranged marriage also took away a core part of the tragedy of her death. Because if she wasn’t die hard for her tribe and wasn’t trying to escape a life she didn’t want, her choosing death makes less sense. Also, the fact they made the ex-fiancée so nice made it really hard for me to root for Yue and Sokka 😂 Like I lived for Hahn’s demise in the cartoon

2024-02-26 23:59:14 +0000 UTCI thought the first season was as good as they could make this as far as the chronology goes. A lot of the book 1 episodes were one-off stories introducing us to new characters we would see in later seasons which has more connection and fluidity between the episodes.

And I think they just utilized there wrong ... Made shorter more accurate shows then trying to squeeze everything into one hour maybe 3 more episodes couldnt have to hurt

2024-02-26 21:09:34 +0000 UTCAgree with you here 100%. I've only seen Book 1 so far of the cartoon and that seemed like enough info for me to know what was happening for the most part. I think live action always is going to have a more serious tone since it's a bit harder to pull off the jokes / unseriousness of an animated cartoon. I give it a 7.5 also because the CGI was really good to me, I enjoyed the bending a ton and the action scenes - my main concern was sometimes the flow of the story just felt off or like they introduced characters that you'd need to have watched the animated show for because they had so little to do with the story in live action...and I felt like Aang had way more badass moments in the animated series compared to this. Like I was waiting for Aang to do literally anything heroic in live action at some points

2024-02-26 18:52:32 +0000 UTCI was mad asf at the story changes before I realized you can't really compare this to the cartoon since they really aren't trying to emulate it, they're carving their own path in the story (kind of like two different groups playing dungeons and dragons with the same premade story, or even two different people playing an RPG) That said why the FUCK isn't Aang even accidentally water bending at this point

The Way the did the story line was a bit ehh.. because if you didn't watch the cartoon, you would be completely lost... and yeah don with the waterbending?? What hell ?? I think in the cartoon, I think it was Aang Who waterbended and made katara Try even harder.... They Threw in unnecessary extra and took out the needed extra... AND AANG NOT AANG EITHER!! MY G NOT AS GOOFY AS HE WAS IN THE CARTOON, HE MORE SO SERIOUS

2024-02-26 18:46:59 +0000 UTCI think the shows a solid 5.5/10 so far Like it's not bad by any stretch of the imagination, but I'm probably not going to rewatch the show when the cartoon still exists lmao The movie isnt even half as good as this, there was at least passion and care put into this show, especially from the fight coordinators and visuals team whereas the movie could have been made by a toddler and had maybe the same level of quality

A lot of the story could have been left as is but instead they felt the need to add certain things that wasn’t needed. I understand for the sake of fluency and time they had to mesh things together, but they also went about adding stuff that didn’t need to be added and made things awkward at times. Otherwise, I though the CGI, casting, and world building was pretty good
